As we sit comfortably in our homes, having dinner with our families, crime rates are going up all around us. That is to say that criminals are no longer relegated to the inner cities; they've evolved to suburbs and rural areas as they seek new and more vulnerable targets. For several decades, one of the major dreams of the middle class has been to own a home in the suburbs. Now, under the guise of prohibiting discrimination based on race, religion, sex, etc., Democrats have proposed regulations that would force jurisdictions that accept HUD funding to "promote equity in their...

There is immense concern about economic inequality, both among the scholarly community and in the general public, and many insist that equality is an important social goal. However, when people are asked about the ideal distribution of wealth in their country, they actually prefer unequal societies. We suggest that these two phenomena can be reconciled by noticing that, despite appearances to the contrary, there is no evidence that people are bothered by economic inequality itself. Rather, they are bothered by something that is often confounded with inequality: economic unfairness. Drawing upon laboratory studies, cross-cultural research, and experiments with babies and...

It may be one of the most surefire findings in all of social psychology, repeatedly replicated over almost five decades of study: American conservatives say they are much happier than American liberals. They also report greater meaning and purpose in their lives, and higher overall life satisfaction. These links are so solidly evidenced that, for the most part, modern social scientists simply try to explain them. They've put forth numerous possible explanations. There are a couple clear contributors to point out first. Marriage tends to make people happier, and conservatives are more likely to be married. Religious belief is also...

On Friday’s broadcast of ABC’s “The View,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) responded to a question on what she would say to people who worked to pay off their student loans who feel it would be unfair if other people will have their loans forgiven by stating that “about 40%” of people with loans don’t have degrees and the issue “is a question of fairness.”

Robby Walker is lucky to be alive. After the 52-year-old father from Florida contracted COVID-19-related pneumonia, a ventilator wasn't enough. He needed Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), a treatment in which blood is routed through a machine that purifies and oxygenates it, giving the patient's lungs a chance to recover. But no ECMO machines were available in Florida or nearby states because other ECMO patients were using them.

Professors from the University of Arizona and the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs are arguing that "success and merit" are "barriers" to the equity agenda.“Admitting that the normative definitions of success and merit are in and of themselves barriers to achieving the goals of justice, diversity, equity and inclusion is necessary but not sufficient to create change,” professors Beth Mitchneck and Jessi L. Smith recently wrote for Inside Higher Education.Mitchneck and Smith attributed those definitions to a "narrow definition of merit limited to a neoliberal view of the university." Specifically, they express concern that universities receive funding and recognition based...

The USGA told Davidson on the same day that he had met the organization’s Gender Policy eligibility requirements and could now participate in the group’s championships. Plans to join LPGA Davidson, a 28-year-old social media employee for NBC’s Peacock division, which is part of the Golf Channel, wants the LPGA to make the same decision.

A bill in Mississippi to prevent biological males from competing in female-only sports is making its way through the state senate, marking another state taking action in a cultural and legal battle over biological boys crushing female athletes in the name of equality. The bill, called the Mississippi Fairness Act, is sponsored by state Sen. Angela Burks Hill, a Republican lawmaker also known for her pro-life legislation. Hill has introduced the Fairness bill for several years only to watch it die in committee but now the legislation, known as Senate Bill 2536, has passed two committees and is now up...

A year ago I looked at the 20th anniversary of Nancy Pelosi's ascension to the speakership and shook my head in dismay. Now things are worse. The likelihood of a Biden presidency (despite determined opposition from many Republicans) suggests government lead persecution of men will get worse. This will be disastrous for America and felt around the world in all places that follow America's lead. Lord God please stand by Ted Cruz and Mike Pence and give them strength.

Is Donald Trump's stand today the courageous stand of a political genius? I believe he is right that there is huge vicious mainstream media bias against him. I believe that the massive failure of polls to get the numbers right deserves to be called in to question. The failure to allow Republicans to observe the count is very very suspicious. Has there been massive vote cheating sufficient to deliver victory to Biden? I havent seen the evidence of that yet. But this I know for certain from my own life here i Australia (https://freedom-demokrasi-and-civilised-humanity.com/2020/02/07/one-minutes-silence-for-sotu/): Leftist governments thrive on injustice and...

- The FCC fairness doctrine was disassembled in 1987. The doctrine was put in place to assure the American people are getting fair, non bias news coverage. Since then there have been no regulations on cable television with regards to children’s content and we haven’t had a non bias source of news since. - The Clinton administration then introduced the Telecommunications Act of 1996. Which further weakened regulations as it allowed for media cross-ownership. According to the FCC, the goal of the law was to "let anyone enter any communications business – to let any communications business compete in any...

Back in the 1990s, I began asking a simple polling question that highlights a massive change in the way Americans view their country: Generally speaking, is American society fair and decent or is it unfair and discriminatory? In those long-ago days, voters overwhelmingly responded fair and decent, typically by a 2-to-1 margin. Things are much different today. Polling I conducted this past weekend found that just 38% of voters nationwide believe our society is generally fair and decent. Nearly half (47%) believe our society is unfair and discriminatory. That’s consistent with data I cited a few weeks back showing that...

In April, a Navy SEAL was rejected from a job in the Fire Department of New York because he was over the age requirement by about seven months, after public outrage, legislation has now been passed that will allow him to serve. Special Operations Chief Shaun Donovan, 37, will be able to serve with the FDNY if Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo signs the legislation. The bill increases the window for military veterans by one year and was passed by the legislature Thursday.

“Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country.” That’s from President Donald Trump’s last State of the Union address. I’m sure many people found it as encouraging as I did, especially in light of surveys indicating that socialism is gaining popularity here in the United States. And not just at the fringes. One recent Gallup poll showed 4 out of 10 Americans have a favorable impression of socialism. Almost half—47%—said they would vote for a socialist candidate for president. But don’t despair just yet. The same poll also revealed that almost 2 out of every...

We’re probably going to be heading down a bit of a rabbit hole here but bear with me. As regular readers may know, I’ve been doing a fair bit of digging into Elizabeth Warren’s proposal dealing with student loan forgiveness and free tuition, along with the very different responses we’re seeing to these plans. One of the issues that comes up repeatedly is the question of whether such a scheme would really be “fair†to the people who have already put in the work and paid their debts if others who didn’t (or couldn’t) pay those bills just had them...

To err is human, or at least that’s what they say. But the question is, how come that Internet behemoths like Google/YouTube, Facebook and Twitter always make ‘mistakes’ when it comes to their right wing users, Donald Trump (whose Twitter account was ‘deleted’ by mistake recently) included? This question has an obvious and not very politically correct answer, but I’ll let you sort it out on your own. Today we learned that Google owned YouTube ‘accidentally’ deleted a number of conservative/right wing channels and/or videos, following the Florida high-school massacre. Obviously, Google claims it was done by mistake, but all...

.....OMB later cited internal data to the Washington Examiner that said the top 20 percent of people to pay income taxes account for 94.8 percent of those taxes in 2016. That appears to be a jump from just a few years ago. In 2015, the Wall Street Journal reported that the top 20 percent of income earners paid 84 percent of income taxes.

The moral sentiments of the population determine what political leaders are willing to do. The moral sentiments of a country may be consistent with reality or may be based on Utopian *fantasies, but, either way, they control public policy. To illustrate, lets examine the concepts “earn” and “deserve”. In reality, material products and human services are the product of human labor. Food and shelter, for example, do not exist in nature ready for your use. Medical care does not exist in nature. Humans must work to create these things. This is not a situation that was devised by mean people....
