Attorney General Eric Holder described the United States Wednesday as a nation of cowards on matters of race, saying most Americans avoid discussing unresolved racial issues. In a speech to Justice Department employees marking Black History Month, Holder said the workplace is largely integrated but Americans still self-segregate on the weekends and in their private lives.
"Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial we have always been and continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards," said Holder, nation's first black attorney general.
Race issues continue to be a topic of political discussion, Holder said, but "we, as average Americans, simply do not talk enough with each other about race."
He urged people of all races to use Black History Month as a chance for frank talk about racial matters.

No, why don't we do this during White History Month? You know, when black children are forced to watch PBS specials and write papers about how great white people are and how America would be nothing without white people.

In the end, it doesn't matter.
It would help if the races would self-police without benefit of race-baiting hustlers. As it is, in the black community has Jackson/Sharpton who will defend anything done by any black; CAIR defends outrageous Muslim behavior; the JDL condones bad behaviour by Jews; and, whites have or had the KKK.
Because the mass media accepts those advocates as speaking for entire groups, it sets up the worst of each racial/ethnic/religious group as the public face of that group.
It is also the case that in their personal lives people cling to what they know. Likes attract. It is not discrimination.
