Cali has too many people living in a semi-arid location.

You mean the close-to-illiterate movie stars might have to drain their pools?
I thought not.

Who could have known that water supply would be an issue in an overcrowded sanctuary city?

So, will the idiots finally build desalinization plants?
Not too long ago, somebody developed a new type of nano-filter, that uses only 1/4th of the power needed for reverse osmosis.
It amounts to nanotubes only large enough to pass single molecules of water, nothing larger.
So practically speaking, all they need is a huge water pipe deep under the ocean. The water pressure forces molecules of pure water through the walls of the pipe, which is then pumped to the surface.
But they could even solve their energy needs right now by bringing in a ship mounted nuclear reactor to purify sea water through reverse osmosis. It could pump it directly into the coastal cities water systems, so they would no longer need to draw water from inland sources.

So. Cal gets its water from No. Cal. And there is good news. It's been snowing hard in the Sierra’s for a week. If the trend continues, So. Cal will get water this summer. But it's a tenuous thing. We had two dry winter's. It looks like we'll escape a third dry winter. If we didn't, then the reservoirs would dry up, and there really would be no water. This scenario will eventually play out. Not this year though. Close call.

Off shore nukes desalinizing ocean water would solve this problem, plus I don’t believe them. CA has had lots of rain this year and I wasn’t aware the south was in a drought. I think it is just another lie in order to raise rates, just another tax hike.

I live in Northern CA and after a weeks worth of rain, the newscasters are still telling us that it won't help the drought. Well if rain won't help the drought, what will?

As someone who lives in the area.......yea, right flooding and rain for nearly two weeks, record snow falls in the local mountain ranges. Who are they trying to kid?
