Vanity - sitting on the tarmac on a USAirways flight from Houston. Pilot announced a "system-wide hard shut down." Anyone know what's up?
Obama just bailed out the airline industry so it went out of business?
It means to get comfortable cause you ain’t going anywhere for a while. Sorry.
Probably weather related. Haven’t seen any breaking information otherwise.
Wish my brother was still an ATC in the Dallas Center, he might know something. But he’s in Alaska now.
Where are you going?
Ping.
my first thought was that it had something to do with seeing a picture of a certain white house reporterette
Ice storms? Where are you trying to go to?
Bright and sunny today.
Some nimrod in coach was using a wireless connection to ask a question and it fried the avionics.
How to you get internet access while sitting in an aircraft on the tarmac?
Yeah, but his name is Bruce.
Just checked the FAA website, says 15 minutes or less delay. Longer delay (16 to 30 minutes delay) at SFO.
Otherwise, green lights across the board.
Well, there you go. That clears that up /sarc
From isn’t as important as TO.
Where are you going?
I hope that doesn’t mean the terrorists have constructed a device to hack into the Department of Security’s CIP firewall to send messages over the FAA’s spectrum!
I think it means that the entire system has been shut down, and it was quite difficult to do.
Your welcome.
..and do you have a camera phone?
Bush Airport?
This happened to me about a year ago. It was along the eastern coast. They said it had to do with the computers. Sat in the plane for a while until they let us all off to wait. Pain in the neck, good luck.
Pilot announced a company-wide computer problem. Check your USAirways flights if traveling
“Some nimrod in coach was using a wireless connection to ask a question and it fried the avionics.”
ROFLMAO!
Better stock up on blue fluid, dude.
I’m goign to take a shower.
Keep us posted with any updates.
This is US Airways. They were cute when they were first hired...in 1975. ;)
Maybe were YOU are, but not necessarily where others are going, including airline hubs. For example, bad weather in Chicago can delay flights EVERYWHERE because crews can’t get to their next aircraft, aircraft can’t get to hubs for further flights, etc.
I ain’t squidpup ... but a Blackberry or other internet enabled “phone” will do the job right nicely.
If they’re just sitting there, no good reason not to use it.

One can freep from their Blackberry and various other mobile devices without even having to power up the dang laptop...I do it all the time.
It also means that you can freep from your SUV while driving down the road at excessive speed..but you have to take your seat belt off to make it truely a neanderthalian experience.
"Say, what's a mountain goat doing in a cloud bank?"
Only a cute little girl behind me kicking my seat
You know, in case it's a long delay.
Maybe were YOU are, but not necessarily where others are going, including airline hubs. For example, bad weather in Chicago can delay flights EVERYWHERE because crews can’t get to their next aircraft, aircraft can’t get to hubs for further flights, etc.
That’s what happened to me on my flight to Canada on Dec 24th. The stewardess announced that a “bunch of Mexicans” were being held up so the flight is delayed.
You got that right..” a bunch of Mexicans”.
BWAHAHAHAHA!!!
Ahh, that's ok. Kids can make a flight enjoyable and not seem as long. And the kicking will keep you awake! LOL

Made me giggle.
Okay, nobody wants to tell you but you have a right to know.
Jack Bauer is on the case but the thug from Sengali has a machine that is making airplanes collide and you are on a hard shut down b/o that and because the President, who is a woman, won’t back down as she should as her advisors are telling her to {they are probably treasonous}
But not to worry,,Chloe is on the case and so is Tony, who is back from the dead.
Yep - pulled out my Blackberry after they shut things down. At least the ac is on.
That was posted because of the ice storm, not any computer problems.
Sorry, should have posted that before the “Cities Affected” line.
Blackberry.
Shutting down a plane “immediately” sounds like an operational problem.
that stuff they’re going to serve you, it’s not chicken
