A week after the election, I was riding the bus home in Santa Monica when we went past one of the many protests around the city against the narrow passage of Proposition 8, which amended the California constitution to eliminate marriage rights for an entire class of people.
The bus driver surveyed the situation and exclaimed, loud enough for the passengers to hear, "sodomites!" I've been so hurt and angry since my theoretically liberal and gay-friendly state passed Proposition 8 that I instantly replied, just as loudly, "Hey, I'm one of those sodomites, too!" Maybe I should have had a snappier comeback, but the driver was stunned. I'm guessing that nobody had ever stood up to him for saying something homophobic.

Moreover, a driver on bus has to speak quite loudly for the passengers to hear them...AND the passage of Prop 8 was NOT narrow.
BS.
Hey Dan!
Would you describe Obama’s win as “narrow”?
I thought not.
Yet he received almost the same percentage of the popular vote as Prop 8.
Seems to me the people of California have spoken quite loudly. Twice.
Alexander Hamilton wrote of the assumption of rights in Federalist 84, where he opposed the Bill of Rights for that very reason:
I go further, and affirm that bills of rights, in the sense and to the extent in which they are contended for, are not only unnecessary in the proposed Constitution, but would even be dangerous. They would contain various exceptions to powers not granted; and, on this very account, would afford a colorable pretext to claim more than were granted.
Sodomite and Obamamite together in one.
I tend to agree with you that this articles smells fishy. Often times WAPO articles posted here are from their premium site, which I cannot access. This one, however, is open for all to see.
In my anger, I wanted to immediately report the driver to the transit authority. But I found myself with a moral dilemma. What if this person was fired as a result of my complaint? These are tough economic times. Would he find another job?
This statement also has me questioning the authenticity of the story.
The liberals have one cause left and this is it. They have control of all things political so they will not rest on this matter, especially in California.
Up yours Sodomite.
Are the words Sodom and Gomorrah now considered hate speech?
Gay marriage proponents protest in front of Mormon church A couple of opponents of Proposition 8 yell at occupants of a car at a demonstration outside the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a Mormon temple in Newport Beach.
Yecchh.
It's not like he'd invite one of them out for a beer, or that they'd want to go to a gay bar, anyway.
What part of YES! don’t you understand, sodomite?
Gays should be thankful for the rights they have. Most nations in the world are much LESS tolerant.
I have no doubt the kalifornia supremes will probably throw out the voters will once again. If the protests are bad now, just wait till the voting public converges on the Ca supremes. Why have a vote if they are going to reverse the will of over 2/3 of the voting public.
I think this story is made up anyhow.
Remember their time when every vote mattered?
You’re right...this article does not seem kosher. The Washington Post has a history of publishing fake stories, even award winning stories, that are later exposed as fabrications. The Janet Cook scandal is but one example. In that case a young Black female writer produced a shocking piece about an elementary school heroin addict. Of course it won a Pulitzer.
Let’s all have a great laugh that the Post got caught on that one.
Careful now.
