Couric demanded that no one on her staff refer to Governor Palin as Governor.

Yes! The only time it would be proper to use Mrs. Palin (I have even seen ‘Ms. Palin’) would be in the context of her marriage to Todd Palin; as in “Mr. and Mrs. Palin invited us into their home where Governor Palin discussed policy issues while Todd talked about snowmachine racing.”

Otherwise it is ALWAYS Governor Sarah Palin or Gov. Sarah Palin, or Gov. Palin.

I know I refer to her as Sarah or Palin and that is probably not right but I feel such a close connection to her unlike any politician since President Reagan.

I think in the 70’s and 80’s I think I called him Reagan quite a bit too.

I think that your question has two answers:

1. The Press and Dems refer to her as “Sarah” and not “Governor Palin” to diminish her. It is intentional and part of their smear.

2. On the other hand, Governor Palin is extremely humble. Many people refer to her as Sarah because they identify with her as a real person.

The libs refused to call GW “President Bush”. Instead they always said “Mister Bush”.

I always try to call her Gov. Palin because I think “Sarah” diminishes her experience and position. I want to remind people every single time she is mentioned that she’s not really the girl next door, she is the EXECUTIVE OFFICER of the LARGEST STATE IN THE UNION. Cut Alaska in half and Texas would still be the third largest state, “Sarah” doesn’t run that- Governor Palin does. I have been saying this for a long time and I think it’s proven true, somehow her executive experience has all but disappeared from the media and she’s been reinvented as “Sarah the cheerleader”. Ticks me off.

It depends on the context (whether a reference to Gov. Palin as “Sarah” is disrespectful, or less-than-appropriately-respectful).

I think Joe Biden gets a pass, given that, in their debate, Palin asked him if she could call him “Joe.” He agreed that she could. So he can refer to her as Sarah. (Still, there is a difference between ADDRESSING her as “Sarah” and REFERRING TO HER, elsewhere, as “Sarah.” I’d go with “Governor Palin” in the latter instance, so I agree with the author there.)

This is a malicious trick the MSM uses to strip their target of their rightful title (and the respect that would engender).

They did the same thing to President GW Bush when they began calling him “Mr. Bush” in articles and on television early in his presidency. They haven’t quit to this very day.

Same reason they call him Mr Bush. They just aren’t into the whole respectful title thing when there’s an R after the name.

I can’t say that I disagree. Gov. Palin has a decade’s worth of executive experience in politics. In addition, I believe she ran her own business for a while.

The presidency is an executive position. It’s not a position for posers. At least McCain has run a naval squadron before and comes from a long line of military leaders. He provided real leadership on the Iraq surge, for example.

Contrast McCain-Palin with Obama-Biden on their respective executive resumes. The only thing Obama ran was one measly foundation that handed out $60 mil. Whoopdedoo. When asked what executive experience he has had, he points to his own campaign for the presidency! LMAO. Biden hasn’t run anything in his life other than his mouth. Obama and Biden are nothing more than blowhard lawyers who got into politics.

Effective executives generally don’t come from the Senate. I think McCain is going to have to shed off the last 25 years he spent in the Senate in order to be an effective president.

As for Gov. Palin, she’s ready today. She’s taken on increasingly higher profile public executive positions and has done well at each step. You don’t do that unless you know how to lead.

The presidency is a leadership position. It is one that requires tough decisions, not muddled professorial lawyering.

It’s amusing how the media makes the position out to be the Professorship of the United States. It is the President of the United States and it requires a leader, not a poser.

Something to think about. Right now people are fed up with Washington DC. They are fed up with these politicians who spend their entire careers there, ride the gravy train, and then every 4 years or so run for the presidency. There's only one candidate in this race who currently does not work inside the beltway. There's one candidate who draws large, enthusiastic crowds wherever she goes. There's one candidate who knows the middle class because she is middle class. Yeah, Americans are concerned about their future, but they are angry about this nation's leadership. And it's not just anger at Bush. Just take a look at Congress' approval rating. I think the pollsters, the pundits, and the rest of the liberal media-Democrat clusterf*** are missing this. While Sen. McCain represents stability in the presidency, Gov. Palin represents the anger middle America has for the status quo in DC. In addition, Gov. Palin represents the ambitions of middle class women who work and raise families too. Think a number of them haven't been paying attention while the media dumped on them? Why'd so many such women support Sen. Clinton and are cool to Sen. Obama? Obama-Biden represent the status quo - more spending, more disdain for middle America. Obama-Biden represent the polygamous gay marriage between the media, the Democrat party, and the entertainment industry.

This may just be the first presidential ever in which the VP candidate won the race for a ticket.

Not hard to figure out.
People who like her already, and have from the beginning
like her for a whole set of reasons which have to do with
her realness, her accessibility, and the sense of familiarity she projects.effortlessly
, so there would be no reason ever to refer to her as anything but Sarah Palin or Sarah.
The people who are SUPPOSED to show her respect but who can’t bring themselves to, will wiggle and wriggle around
the courtesy of referring to her as Governor Palin. She is NOT supposed to have a title at all, and certainly not that one. I have met people as recently as a few weeks ago who still were under the impression she was never more than the Mayor of a small Alaska town , Wassilla. That’s how well the MSM does its “job”.
