The election of Hillary Clinton would be a catastrophe for the United States on so many levels: militarily, economically, legally, and socially. A Democrat Congress would hand her the keys to the Treasury and gleefully enable her worst instincts. While I don’t really trust John McCain on a number of issues including immigration and spending, if it comes down to such a choice, I am not willing to sit on my hands in November and let the Clinton Crime Family walk back into the White House to resume their pilfering and plunder.

Let's hope it doesn't come to it - I disagree with McCain on a number of issues. I disagreed with Bush on a few as well and ended up voting for him. I don't regret it.

I would vote for Mitt or Fred but if it is John McCain I will not vote for him. I would rather have the Republicans in Congress to fight the Dems tooth and tong without the need to fight a president of their own party as well. Much like they had to do under Bush. As far as SCOTUS, McCain would sell us out there as well.

I’d vote for John McCain.

I agree with very little of his core beliefs, but at least he is a “small government” type guy. I heard him recently make the comment that he would look at how to cut the budget before he would look to implement new/higher taxes, which is an important issue to me. I appreciate his view on the War on Terror and his continual and open support for the troops. I HATE and LOATHE McCain/Feingold (I’m IMissPResidentReagan and I approve this message), and have nightmares thinking about his amnesty support. Also, IMO, for someone who so bravely served his country and spent years in a Vietnamese POW camp, John McCain is a bit of a sissy when it comes to ads. In 2000, I thought he would have an emotional break down over “negative” ads run by the Bush campaign in South Carolina, and this year he has already struck up the sympathy band from Iowa on, whining continuously about others’ negative ads while cranking out his own. I mean no disrespect to the man, but it’s politics. Like it or not it’s a dirty business and I seriously doubt that his Senate races are all sunshine and roses when it’s close. Also, I think he tends to be disdainful of the voting public when they don’t agree with him, especially re:amnesty. His temper flare ups, even when being interviewed by someone like Hannity, who isn’t all that antagonistic are troublesome. I also have trouble reconciling the fact that he presents himself as someone who “bucks authority” and a “maverick”, yet he’s been a part of the “authority” via the Senate for years now. He hates earmarks...well then as a Senator do something about it. I could go on and on with my anti-McCain ranting, but that is not the point of my post.

That being said, there isn’t a 3rd party candidate that has won me over, not that I’ve paid much attention to them. After watching Ross Perot’s mental breakdown (conspiracies everywhere oh my) only to cost GHWBush the election, I tend to not pay much attention to 3rd party candidates.

I’d rather vote for John McCain, who I KNOW is going to be strong on the War on Terror, rather than the Democrat nominee who would have conceded to Al Qeada at 9:15 a.m. September 11, 2001. There is no perfect candidate, I’ve yet to find someone who I agree with 100% of the time, least of all John McCain. When it comes down to making a choice on who to vote for, however, you have to make the best choice, which in the scenario you just presented, is unfortunately, John McCain.

Pardon me, we are conservatives. The only reason we vote GOP is because they have a platform we liked. Notice I say liked, past tense.

The GOP does not deserve conservative votes anymore. They are pushing big government liberals and it could be the end of the GOP as we know it.

We do not blindly vote for people, nor do we owe our vote to the GOP.

Your question exposed a remarkably large number of spoiled little kids who will take their ball and go home if they don't get to pitch.

I have never understood how maintaining some misguided sense of philosophical purity is more important than defeating democrats. We have people of this mentality to thank for giving Clinton the presidency on 43% of the popular vote in 1992. There is not one republican, not even Paul, that disagrees with me as much as the most agreeable democrat. A RINO president will hurt the country. A democrat president will destroy the country as we know it. The next 4 years are critical to the war on terror and rebuilding the Supreme Court. I for one am not willing to help the democrats win.

December 2008 will be too late to discover that voting for a third party candidate is counterproductive.

McCain is as "dangerous" to our Republic as Hillary or Obama. Maybe more so as being a Member of the GOP gives him votes he otherwise would not have.

Until John get's a clue on the limits on FedGov power imposed by the Constitution, I will not support him.

Same for Willard and Rudy. At least the Huckster breaks 50% on the "conservative" issues list.

Good question. My first instinct is to not vote for President this year, and vote the under card and local races.
Then I think what kind of Commander in Chief would Hillary or Obama make??? SHUDDER!!!! Our Troops don’t deserve that!! As much As I don’t like McCain. He will make a better C in C, then any Dem nominee. So I’d have to vote for McCain, and sacrifice my political whims, so those that sacrifice a lot more for us get the best leadership. If the troops weren’t deployed in a war zone..I’d go with my first instinct.
