I would vote for him because the #1 role of the President is Commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces, and I will not stab them in the back by giving them Hillary or Obama.

Now, until I am forced to make that choice, I will do what I can to ensure that we have a better choice- Thompson.

Unfortunately I don’t think it’s going to matter because I believe the GOP has all but given the White House to the democrats. The GOP has shown nothing but contempt for us and will need a beating to regain their principles.

I wish Fred would catch fire.

I wish John, Mitt, Mike, and Rudy would catch fire. Then we could plant some more Freds and Duncans where they used to grow. Slash and burn, as it were.

If McCain wins the nomination, Hillary or Obama will win the election. Conservatives will not have enough enthusiasm to come out to the polls in sufficient quantity to overpower the rat cheating that will take place.

His veep will probably be Thompson. They are friends, and Thompson is pretty clearly running for veep anyway. He'd cover the right and south a bit, reassure a lot on age concerns, and has the gravitas and steadiness people want in anyone on the ticket. That he is so laconic, even self effacing, is a liability at the top of the ticket but an asset at the bottom. From Thompson's point of view, win or lose, being on the actual national ticket once raises his eventual chances at the office itself, dramatically. He can wait.

I personally like McCain. If he said Perdogg “let’s have a beer I will introduce you to my daughter we can talk football”, I would say sure.

But then he will say something that scares hell out of me.

Only if I hold my nose and punch the chad all the way out of the card.....

Oh yeah, I don't have to do that anymore in Ohio....we went hi-techy in the last election.... so guess I'll only have to hold my nose and vote RINO instead of Communist.

But I’m recently thinking that 4 years of the Dems may not be a bad thing in the long run, because a disasterous liberal term will enable the conservative party to regain its strength and possibly take over the WH and Congress/Senate 4 years after that.

There’s a conservative party?

How exciting. Would I want to die next November in a fiery car crash or be crushed by the roof caving in during a tornado?

I’ve always said ‘no’. Wavering now. I would have a tough time working for him, probably would vote for him. I learned my lesson in ‘92. If he picked a VP I liked and was setting that person up to take over in 4 years, my enthusiasm would probably grow. He’d be a good commander in chief.

I would have zero problem voting for Romney, Thompson, and possibly McCain.

Huckabee will never get my vote even if he is up against Hillary or Obama.

The temper tantrum crowd does not do America any favors.
They cut off their nose to spite their faces and hurt our country a great deal on issues like abortion, taxes, gay marriage, Judges, and all foreign policy issues.
But what does that matter?

If you don’t want a Dem to win, don’t nominate McCain.

The overwhelming priority to get my vote is National Security. For that reason, despite my disagreements with Mc Cain on Immigration, Campaign Finance Reform and votes on tax cuts, he will get my vote if nominated (which is still a big IF).

Given your reasoning, Hitler would be a shoe-in.

Perdogg, my opinion of McCain is no secret around here.

But there is NO WAY IN HELL that I will turn my back on a fellow Republican who spent more than five years in the Hanoi Hilton in service to this country. NO WAY. I have too much respect for military service to do that.

So despite all his backstabbing of the GOP he has my vote if he is the nominee.
