Gore Wins Nobel Peace Prize
Nobel Prize ^

Posted on 10/12/2007 4:23:07 AM PDT by Barney Gumble

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2007 is to be shared, in two equal parts, between the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Albert Arnold (Al) Gore Jr. for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change.

Indications of changes in the earth's future climate must be treated with the utmost seriousness, and with the precautionary principle uppermost in our minds. Extensive climate changes may alter and threaten the living conditions of much of mankind. They may induce large-scale migration and lead to greater competition for the earth's resources. Such changes will place particularly heavy burdens on the world's most vulnerable countries. There may be increased danger of violent conflicts and wars, within and between states.

Through the scientific reports it has issued over the past two decades, the IPCC has created an ever-broader informed consensus about the connection between human activities and global warming. Thousands of scientists and officials from over one hundred countries have collaborated to achieve greater certainty as to the scale of the warming. Whereas in the 1980s global warming seemed to be merely an interesting hypothesis, the 1990s produced firmer evidence in its support. In the last few years, the connections have become even clearer and the consequences still more apparent.

Al Gore has for a long time been one of the world's leading environmentalist politicians. He became aware at an early stage of the climatic challenges the world is facing. His strong commitment, reflected in political activity, lectures, films and books, has strengthened the struggle against climate change. He is probably the single individual who has done most to create greater worldwide understanding of the measures ...

A gang of America-hating European communists give an award to a fellow communist.

Is anyone really surprised?

Wow o wow are you right there. The committee could care less about global wraming. What they love is global tyranny and Al Gore and his whacky global warming is thier best bet.

Quote! "He is probably the single individual who has done most to create greater worldwide understanding of the measures that need to be adopted."

DO tell, what are these measures? Even the Gore fanatics aren't ultimately going to like the answer to that question. If this panic train does not stop, we are headed for a huge world war.

The only good thing about this is that this must be killing Bill Clinton. When he was President, he tried to give all of Israel away in pursuit of this silly prize.

Facts:
The climate is changing.
There will be less drinking water
There will be more human migration and enviromental refugees.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has been established by WMO and UNEP to assess scientific, technical and socio- economic information relevant for the understanding of climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation.

By raising awarenes and making us all more prepared they have prevented and decreased future conflict.
This is all a part of a message that peace, the one thing we all want, requires work in every field.
One might not like that it was also awarded to Al Gore but no *sane* individual can deny the facts presented by the IPCC.

I hope and expect that the global community at the very least are able to see that peace is achived in many different ways and that awareness over possible future conflict is certainly one way to achive peace.

The war for the future is being fought over whether or not carbon dioxide can cause catastrophic global warming or not, and the Gore side is winning.

I gave a talk to a group of largely conservative business people yesterday, and mentioned that there is now fairly incontrovertible proof that throughout history, temperature increases have PRECEDED spikes in atmospheric CO2. I said that this could disprove the theory that CO2 acts as a greenhouse gas within the earth's atmosphere because, if CO2 increases after temperature increases, then theoretically the temperature would continue to go up, in a self-perpetuating manner. They were dumbfounded, incredulous, and indignant that I could say such a thing.

The dark side, the anti-capitalists who want to obliterate modernity by demonizing CO2, have won the hearts and minds, our task is no longer prevention, but restoration of sanity, as involves the science involving fossil fuels and CO2. Some states' legal systems are already treating what plants breathe as a toxin, and we all know how difficult it is to get laws off the books.

Good thing they didn’t give it to someone to anyone in say, I don’t know, Burma or Lebanon. That may encourage more people to seek peaceful change in their countries.

You've got to be kidding me. This is worse that Yassar Arafat.

Between Jimmuh Carter, Yassar Afafat and now Owlgore, the Nobel Peace Prize has been reduced to being about as meaningful as who is dog catcher in Bugtussle. On the bright side, Gore is in company of his own kind - LOOSERS -

There will be less drinking water

Warming causes higher humidity and more rain, so how will there be less drinking water?
