>>>With all due respect if anyone is ignorant of where Fred Thompson stands on practically any issue under the sun it’s because they choose to be so.<<<

That hasn’t stopped the Romney-haters from attacking him wihout merit and with the evidence against them. I doubt it will stop the Thompson detractors, either.

I was thinking the same thing Traderrob6. Fred is clearly a force to be reckoned with and it is understandably making some Rudy/McCain/Romney supporters upset. Let’s remember the 11th commandment, vote it out in the primaries, and then go beat the dims.

I like Fred because:

He’s not a liberal like Rudy
He’s not crazy like McCain
He has a sense of humor
He’s great on camera, giving him a chance to reach casual voters
His writings show that he is a very smart man

He will be a great addition to the slate of candidates and may drive McCain out for good.

I changed when Fred started to get a little more serious, and after I got to read a little more about him.

I’m not inflexible with my vote, I’m voting for the person I feel has the most conservative values based on the available candidates.

So until Fred throws his hat in, I’m with Romney, and even then Fred has to earn my vote.

Most people, these days, cannot handle a clear-cut definition of “right” and “wrong”, and when someone comes along who spells out their intentions in a “black and white” fashion (meaning clearly defined), they are deemed as “narrow-minded”. Those of us who do our best to live inside boundaries established by GOD, are often accused of being “behind the times”, however, if there could be any more incorrect designation, I don’t know what it could be. Principled living is what I call it, but then, that statement isn’t original with me. That is the way I have seen Fred Thompson all along, both, in his career as a politician, and his numerous appearances on TV and other film projects. These are the kind of people GOD is looking to use to affect the lives of others.

"What are his plans?"

Fred's plans have not been publicly announced, so nobody knows for sure.

Having said that, however, I can say that since he is the same kind of fellow as all the other insiders, we can expect Fred's plans to continue the status quo.

In other words; more "globablism", more "entanglling alliances", more "interventionism", etc, etc.,etc.

So far, his apparent plan is to show it was folly for the three frontrunners to enter so early. Pretty effective plan, if you ask me.

I'd like to know what his plan is for leading the country.

Now, if you are in so need of a long-winded plan from a presidential candidate, I'm sure you can get a couple spares from John Kerry - he had a bunch during the 2004 campaign, for what good it did him.

Your attitude frightens me. You appear to be just looking for someone to win, not someone with ideas. Are you not interested in a candidate's platform or what he plans to do if elected?

"I for one am interested in looking at many candidates before I decide."

The larger number of "like" candidates makes the one "unlike" candidate stand out even more from the crowd.

Yes, I support "the one who shall not be named in this thread".

"..words in your mouth” I pasted.."

Makes no difference to some people.

They will still read it as; "I pasted words in your mouth".

I don’t find this helpful to Fred’s cause, unless you take it as purposely comic exaggeration, which Fred’s enemies are unlikely to do.

"Am I supposed to be excited about this guy because he's a Hollywood actor or because he's a lawyer or because he's both?"

And yet, Fred's so much more than that:

Fred Thompson is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, too!

I hope this comes back to bite him on the butt.

Having said that, however, I can say that since he is the same kind of fellow as all the other insiders, we can expect Fred's plans to continue the status quo.

And that's exactly why I'd like to know what his plans are.

I don't mind getting behind Fred Thompson's candidacy, if he can articulate a conservative vision and his plans to move the country in that direction.

He talks a good game, but so did Bush (on some issues). Thompson's membership in the Council on Foreign Relations is probably the thing that most concerns me. I believe CFR is no better than the ACLU for what it wants to do to the sovereignty of this country.

We have very good conservative candidates in this election - Tancredo and Hunter being the best - who have articulated conservative platforms. If Thompson is going to be the nominee, I'd like to know how he's going to shift from his moderate past to a conservative platform, and I don't understand why so many people who rally to the call of conservatism so quickly cast their lot with a man who has yet to identify how he plans to lead this country away from its current leftist direction.

What are his PLANS???

With all due respect if anyone is ignorant of where Fred Thompson stands on practically any issue under the sun it’s because they choose to be so.

Thompson's positions place him squarely in the moderate circle. He can talk a good game in his editorials, speeches and commentary that is posted here, but where he stands, the votes and actions he's taken don't square with a conservative agenda.

All I've seen adds up to another eight years like the last eight, only possibly less of a rush to "work with" Ted Kennedy et al.

Does Thompson disavow the Council on Foreign Relations' North American Community report?

2000’s - I Dread Fred

Why? Because he is a conservative but not a raving head-in-the-sand moonbat like your boy L. Ron? Spare me.

I don’t see him as a real conservative — he looks like a moderate to me. Look at his votes as Senator....

Ah. Well. Ummmm. I wasn't very clear there was I?

Based on the title: Why 'THEY' fear Fred, it seemed like "I Dread Fred" could be a lib-uh-rhul campaign slogan.

Conservatives: "I Like..."
"Progressives": "I Dread..."

A clearer delineation between the mindsets would be hard to express in any fewer words!

I guess putting away the Teflon Don was a pansy thing to do?

It was his job to do that. Bragging about it reminds me of some damn fool football player doing a celebration dance after catching the ball.

It's your job, act like you belong there.
