“Is he auditioning for president or God? THis Fred Worship is out of control. What are his plans?”

Well, there is one candidate who believes he will be a God, but that isn’t Fred.

"It's your job, act like you belong there."

AMEN! to that football player analogy. Looks ridiculous!

I personally, and I believe the author as well, do take this as "purposely comic exaggeration" and then sit back and enjoy the unpurposely comic exaggeration of the various members of the 'THEY' roaming FR.

The typical reactions accuse FRed supporters of 'blind faith', thinking he's the 'second coming', etc. as well as the same old spiel of minutiae regurgitated ad infinitum about "The Plan to take down Fred Thompson". The concerns don't stick the same way that concerns over Rudy McRomney, do stick.

This line of attack you are carrying has been discussed ad nauseum here on FR and elsewhere in the blogosphere.

Abraham Lincoln had no ‘executive credentials’,

whereas Jimmah Carter did.

Ergo, your point is irrelevant.

Your usage of the word ‘worship’ is hyperbole caused by a fear of your candidate being overshadowed by a larger more substantial presence on the stage.

The correct word is ‘admiration’. And there are plenty of reasons for that tag.

Hate to tell you, I said I support Fred and would vote for him if he throws his hat in.

So please stop making asinine assumptions to make yourself feel important.

When you stop using hyperbole we’ll talk.

Your usage of the word ‘worship’ is hyperbole

Yes. But so is my usage of the word "auditioning" and I'm disappointed you didn't point that out.

caused by a fear of your candidate being overshadowed by a larger more substantial presence on the stage.

No. My candidate is 1 - 4 percent in the polls, and he won't lose that whether Fred Thompson is in the race or not. I assure you, I'm not afraid of anyone's shadow.

What concerns me is that Thompson has yet to describe his presidency by presenting us with any "plans." He has a moderate background that greatly worries me that we'll get stuck with another eight years of unconservative leadership.

It's easy now to support Thompson. He appears to have the ability to beat Rudy McRomney - which is something a lot of us are very interested in. And because he writes editorials and talks a conservative talk, we are able to project our ideas of how this nation should be led on Thompson.

But until we hear what he actually plans to do on specific issues, how he plans to enact his proposals in spite of a Democrat held congress and senate, we really don't know what Thompson's view of his leadership of the nation is.

I met him in the mid-1990s, and he was introduced to me at the time as "The Next President of the United States." I liked Thompson very much, personally. He does appear to be one of us.

But his background is concerning to me. His votes are the votes of a moderate. His explanations for the votes, particularly Campaign Finance Reform, appear to be political posturing to me.

I'm not opposed to Thompson, yet. But I take electing a president seriously, and the candidate I'm supporting has offered serious proposals and serious plans. Thompson, so far, has offered editorials. I like Walter Williams very much. His columns are fantastic to read. But before I'd vote for him, I'd want to know what his plans are.

No need to talk, anyone who refuse to talk because the other person won’t work within their discussion framework isn’t worth my time.

It’s voters like you that scare me, you vote like it’s a political version of American Idol.

You got a problem with people posting their views? Then take it to the Admin Moderator and see how far you get.

I’ll wager you haven’t got a case.

As for your fears, again it’s all based on hyperbole. Indeed you seem to need anti-anxiety meds.

That is why the most important but least discussed asset we are looking for in a candidate is the ability to communicate, and Thompson seems to be what the Republicans are yearning for.

We still need to find out how good Fred's communication skills are when he's not delivering his lines from a script

I am scanning through your comments and see you haven’t invested the time to adequately study FDT.

Ping or search Sturm Ruger to get the comprehensive reading list.

All your concerns demonstrate you have not done your due diligence. I can see many posters shaking their heads thinking this guy is creating much ado about nothing and needs to get crackin’.

Here’s one piece written at FDT’s highest level (not his down home level):

http://www.australianpolitics.com/usa/clinton/trial/statements/thompson.shtml

You have a lot of homework ahead of you. I’d advise you not to post on FDT until you’ve done your homework and have something material to add to Fred threads.

“What has he ever done except be an actor?”.

A good comeback would be to remind them that he won his Senate seat by the “Largest Margin” in Tennesse history.

Nice debating skills there, or lack there of.

Make you a deal, as soon as you’re able to articulately state your issue we’ll talk.

If you’re going to bring this to an area of simple insults (coming from a simple mind apparently) then you’ve already lost this argument.

I know it’s not the same, but he won election to the US Senate twice as a Republican, while the state was busy electing Bill Clinton in both elections.
