Why 'THEY' fear Fred
Townhall.com ^ | 06/13/2007 | Kevin McCullogh

Posted on 06/13/2007 7:42:49 AM PDT by Servant of the Cross

"'They've' been hearing his footsteps for weeks. With each massive rumble the quake of the earth was echoed in their hearts growing more distinct with each stride."[snip]

"If you want the toughness of Giuliani but can't take the baggage of cross-dressing, three marriages, anti-marriage, pro-abortion, and highly questionable on judges; if you want clear-headed straight talk of McCain - but without the frantic sometimes pathological mood swings, and someone who doesn't think political speech should be stifled - but encouraged; if you want the radiant intelligence, and clearly socially conservative positions of Romney - but are afraid to be called bigot for not feeling comfortable in voting for him, then for these reason's and a dozen more - Fred's your man!"

It’s the same reason a party-crasher fears the security officers., “They” don’t belong at this gathering and fear “they” will be tossed out once discovered.

Oh the sound of bitterness in the morning. Careful, don’t want your head to explode.

Fred needs a better spokesman than Kevin McCullogh.

He has made a bit of an ass of himself lately.

I hope Fred calls him and tells him to never utter Fred's name again.

Oh, given that with each passing week, Fred gains ground as they lose ground, I'd say the metaphor is apt without your attempts to give it bogus religious connotations.

THis Fred Worship is out of control. What are his plans?

So far, his apparent plan is to show it was folly for the three frontrunners to enter so early. Pretty effective plan, if you ask me.

Now, if you are in so need of a long-winded plan from a presidential candidate, I'm sure you can get a couple spares from John Kerry - he had a bunch during the 2004 campaign, for what good it did him.

"If you want the toughness of Giuliani"

while Mayor Giuliani may talk a tough game, nobody on earth thinks you could mess with Papa Bear

Love it! That should appeal to the "security moms".

“THis Fred Worship is out of control.”

Yes, he’s going to run right over your candidate (and the Rat candidate) all the way to the presidency.

I don’t think the comment has anything to do with bitterness, I like Fred and I think that his wording was over the top.

People need to be realistic, he’s a great candidate, but he’s still human and has his own faults, so let’s not treat him like the second coming, he’s a candidate that hasn’t announced he’s even running yet.

So enough with the blind worship of Fred, when you follow someone with your eyes shut, you usually end up tripping and banging your head.

Where is his Executive leadership? A lot of folks like comparing Fred with Reagan, both were actors, etc. BUT – Reagan was elected Governor of California two times with clear majorities. Where are Thompson’s Executive credentials?

and someone who doesn't think political speech should be stifled - but encouraged

I don't think this is a point I'd be pushing about Fred, considering his vote on McCain-Feingold.

You may be right, these portrayals are pretty over the top:

"toughness of Guiliani"

"straight talk of McCain"

"clearly socially conservative positions of Romney"

when you follow someone with your eyes shut, you usually end up tripping and banging your head...

...which pretty much sums up the recent experience of those who chose GWB to be the GOP candidate in 2000.

Most of the suggestions thatFred is another Reagan are coming from the MSM and opponents who seek to erect a strawman just so they can knock it down.

“So enough with the blind worship”

Ah yes, now comes the intellectual elitism rearing it’s ugly head.....The old “You only support Thompson because you don’t know better” argument

A major irritation of the Republican base has been Bush’s trouble articulating. His sloppy speaking style only serves to bolster the perception of his incompetence. That is why the most important but least discussed asset we are looking for in a candidate is the ability to communicate, and Thompson seems to be what the Republicans are yearning for. We need to not just get a victory in 08, but we need to look beyond Bush and focus on the long term vision of the Conservative movement. Fred is that Man.....

Nice try there scooter, but I never said that, you’re putting words in my mouth and that makes you look like an idiot, because here comes the smack down....

I aid I like Fred, and intend to vote for him if he runs, and have said it before.

If he doesn’t throw his hat in, I’m with Romney.

Pure and simple, I don’t blindly follow anyone, I expect them to show my why I should, not believe the hype spouted by his acolytes.
