But 71% of Americans want abortion kept legal in some form.

That number is absolute crap. Where did you find it, the NARAL website?

I’ve asked you not to post to me ever again, Reagan Man. Also, I posted a comment last night that said that I had also registered at Wide Awakes. I have also registered at three other websites; not that it is any of your business. Your continued attempts to smear me, lie about me, and stalk me are disgraceful.

Jim, if you do not say something to Reagan Man now, I will have lost an incredible amount of any respect I ever had for you and this forum.

Don’t you know that when you post absolute undeniable proof, trolls are going to claim it proves the opposite?

Where in this post does Merry say "we need to get over to Free Republic and disrupt things there?" As I read it, Merry basically said "we should stop discussing Free Republic and start discussing other things."

Most polls I've seen on abortion are in the range of one-third oppose all abortions starting with the day of conception, one-fourth support all abortions right up to the day before birth, and the rest waffle, depending on things such as the duration of pregnancy and whether rape or incest are involved.

Admittedly most of these polls are from MSM sources. But I've never seen a credible poll indicating that a majority of the population supports a total, day one of pregnancy ban regardless of circumstances.

Your list is nearly identical to mine. Except that Mitt Romney is in the "overuled out" section of mine as he governed like a liberal as Governor of Massachusetts.

Take a look at THIS DOCUMENT and see what I'm talking about. It's lengthy and clearly demonstrates Romney's liberal record. He's not nearly as bad as Giuliani, but he's FAR too liberal.

Here's more:

The REAL Mitt Romney (YouTube Video)

"I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country. I have since the time that my mom took that position when she ran in 1970 as a US Senate candidate. I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years we should sustain it and support it." Boston Globe, Oct. 26, 1994.

"I respect and will protect a woman's right to choose."
Mitt Romney, in a 2002 letter to the National Abortion Rights Action League.

"Mitt Romney supports the strict enforcement of gun laws. He is a supporter of the federal assault weapons ban." Romney for Governor website

>>>>>I assume this means that you want the President to issue an EO banning abortions nationwide.

Sure. I'd go for that. After the appropriate Constitutional challenges were played out, we might be able to control the killings. It might just wake some America's up to whats been happening to the unborn since Roe v Wade became the law of the land. The SCOTUS decision in Roe v Wade was an act of raw judicial power, a judicial fiat. Either case, abortion on demand is an abomination that must stopped now. Nowhere in the Constitution is it written that a woman has a right to kill her unborn child. The Founders never intended such a heinous court decision become law.

Sure.

Let's call it the gestation proclamation. ;-)

Would you vote only for such a candidate?

I recognize that there are pro-lifers who have their heart in the right place who do not understand the federalist argument I have outlined.

That said, I am not keen on voting for someone who believes abortion should be decided by the states, and who actually opposes a federal role. We are not a confederacy, and life is a right.

BG, I think you misinterpreted the thrust of the comments made at WA. The poster indicated that they, the members of WA, should stop posting stuff at FR and instead post them at WA instead. I have no problem with that and hope most of them continue to visit, post and comment on FR as well. On the other hand we know that some who members of both WA & FR are still posting here on this and other threads and mixing it up with other Freepers who support the stated goals of FR. Here is another WA comment on the same post I described in my original posting at FR. For clearity I will include the original WA post as well. At the end I post another WA comment that well describes the underlying issue I am concerned about. I regret that I am unable to ping the poster of that last comment as his/her account has been banned or suspended.

Hi Merry, I think a big part of it is that people need to vent a bit about what happened and circumstances that brought them here, and it usually involves TOS. Some have just arrived here and others have been here a few days or weeks. It's a relief to see old friends on threads and natural to want to touch on what occurred there. That said, I think as new posters settle in and learn their way around, they'll see that the Salt River area and chat are the best places to discuss TOS.

Yes, it can be hard to find good news articles. An alternative would be to post threads with opinion pieces by favorite columnists. I'm pretty computer challenged and never posted a thread on another site but found it quite easy to do so here.

This is an open forum and this thread is wide open for anyone to post on. Your falsehoods must be challenged. Your support for Rudy must be exposed. I'm not smearing you and I'm not stalking you. I'm revealing your politics, using your own words. If you don't like that #205, move along.

If you post in a public thread anyone has the right to comment on your post. Why does Reagan Man have to ignore anything you choose to say? I think you could ask that someone not send you private messages, but it’s absurd to ask that someone not be able to comment on your public posts.

Elyse, perhaps you would be so kind as to read through this thread and read the comments made regarding this situation. Also, please feel free to read my posting history regarding Rudy Giuliani. It is NOT absurd to ask someone who is persistently pinging you to rude comments, lies and other unworthy things to stop pinging you. Comment=a ping.

Requesting someone to not ping/post comment to you is not unheard of on this forum.

The majority support severely restricting abortion along the lines of the "only in cases of rape, incest, and life of the mother" exceptions.

My argument is with the "we must change hearts and minds" fallacy. The majority of hearts and minds are already closer to the pro-life position than the current abortion of demand culture imposed by Roe and Casey. There never was a pro-abortion majority and the "hearts and minds" argument is made by those brainwashed by the pro-abortion forces and media and too chicken poop to take a position that they wrongly perceive as unpopular on the most important moral issue of the last half century.

Well, if a Presidential candidate said clearly during the campaign that he would sign the "gestation proclamation" and the voters approved, I don't think I'd have a problem.

If he issued such an EO after taking office and without prior notice, I think we could see a shattering of our federal system.

If you understand that risk and think it necessary when compared to the killing of the unborn, I can respect that position.

Just remember that in 1860 and 1861, there were many fire eaters on both sides who thought that after a brief period of saber rattling, their opponents would give in. They were wrong.
