SENATE STAFFER BUSTED FOR CARRYING WEBB'S LOADED GUN: Phillip Thompson, executive assistant to Senator James Webb (D-VA ), has been arrested by Capitol Hill Police on Monday for 'inadvertently' holding the senator's loaded gun, according to a person close to the investigation. A Senate staffer reports that Thompson was arrested for carrying the gun in a bag through security at the Russell Senate Office building while the Senator was parking his car. Thompson was booked for carrying a pistol without a license (CPWL) and for possessing unregistered ammunition.

Statement by Jessica Smith, Webb Communications Director:

"To our knowledge, this incident was an oversight by the Senator's aide. Phillip Thompson is a former Marine, a long-term friend and trusted employee of the Senator. We are still awaiting facts." Developing...

Webb will be voting on laws for all of us to live with for years. He seems to have no common sense at all. Having a staffer carry a loaded firearm into that building tells me that Webb does not have his parachute open all the way.

I'll be interested to hear Mr. Thompson defend the fact that his boss has rights that he doesn't have, nor do the rest of us.

Ah but in a place like VA being bad on guns will not get you far in a state election. He votes against guns on any bill his double standard will be on display.

Harry Reid cannot be pleased right now

According to congressional rules, congressmen and senators, not staff, are allowed to have a gun on federal property.

Great. So Patches Kennedy is probably packin'... Just wonderful!

Guy carrying a bag for the Senator as the Senator was parking his car.... I'd bet a couple of donuts that the guy didn't know the gun was in the bag....

I thought it was illegal to have a firearm on any government property, guess that does not apply to congressmen.

"would probably vote against the Residents of D.C. having a gun in their own home.

What do you base that claim on? Is Webb anti-Second Amendment? Do you have evidence? I don't know how he is on the issue, so I'd like to be informed."

My informed guess goes as follows -- he is a scum-sucking piece of sub-human traitorous and treasonous filth who dreams of sucking his son's penis, hence he would probably be against you and I carrying a gun because you and/or I carrying a gun is a good thing.
