Hey I am not telling you how to run your business. All I am saying like I mentioned earlier is smoking in public places .........

You sir, are a liar................you support government mandated smoking bans in private businesses - that is telling me how to run my business.

I am not saying how to run your store. That is your private life and I have no right to intrude into your private life.

Horse manure - you are supporting government mandates to tell me how to run my business because of your selfishness. Thankfully, I do not run a tavern or restaurant - I've watched far too many people I know and are friends either go out of business or face huge fines because of people like you who have no concept of private property rights.

A little bit of manual labor would probably serve you well - if nothing else it would at least knock the chip off your shoulder and teach you a bit of humility.

They really should outlaw farting. I find that as offensive as someones cigarette smoke.

You married a cool dude that tells it like it is.

Yes, I did. After 17 years he is still my best friend - even when he tells me like it is about something I've done :)

I don't know whether they put our a result or not - but the last result I saw was 52% for repeal - unfortunately that was AFTER the the meeting and vote.

The vote against repeal was only won by 1 vote though.

I personally think they need to ban all smoking, including smoke from car tailpipes. How many of those that think the smoke of a burning leaf should be banned would be in favor of giving up their 2 inch smoking tailpipes.

The anti-cigarette-smoking crowd is totally unthinking. If you don't like the smell of the things, fine. But that is a far as your arguement can rationally be taken.

Nice try Saheba!!!

Re-read again. probably this time your brain might process it correctly -

All I am saying like I mentioned earlier is smoking in public places .........

how in the world you read the above sentence? Is a restaurant a public place? Absolutely not. Then my statement does not apply to a restaurant or a home or a tavern or a hotel. Lacking braincells can definitely cause someone to say "you support government mandated smoking bans in private businesses - that is telling me how to run my business." while I am talking about smoking in public places

You omitted an answer - are they legal?

I have an additional question - in your paying are you withholding the required taxes, or are they being paid as "consultants"???????

No offense intended toward any white-collar folks here-I worked on BOTH sides of the fence throughout the years before retiring-but-It's ALWAYS white-collar whining yuppies who are anti-smoker Taliban. Never suffered or went without, never will. Always had it easy-had it their way-and demand instant gratification on any subject. I've never once in my entire life met or heard of, any blue-collar people who were for total , sweeping bans. Not even the ones who hated the smell of tobacco. My theory is, the harder you have to work for what you have, the more you learn to respect other folks' hard work. Therefore, you are more likely to become infuriated when you see government taking anyone's livelyhood away.

You are making no sense whatsoever. Yet you earlier questioned my sanity??????

You have already stated you support smoking bans such as the one discussed in the article - now you are saying you do not?

I have had the same position on this issue for more years than I care to discuss now, but I will repeat it.

I will accept a smoking ban for public buildings (taxpayer paid) such as schools and court houses. I don't like it because I am a taxpayer also, but I can accept it.

I can not and will not accept a government mandated smoking ban in privately owned businesses.

I patronize businesses that do not permit smoking - but only if the business owner has made that choice.

In states or cities that have government mandated smoking bans - I only patronize businesses that I know opposed the ban.

Among the most vocal opponents of these bans have been the establishments that were non-smoking by choice.......the bans have destroyed the niche market they created for themselves.

I know you are right - and I normally do behave the way you are suggesting, but for some reason this one has really gotten to me.

The fact I got less than 4 hours sleep last night might have something to do with it :)

You are making no sense whatsoever.

Okay, please please re-read the following few lines.

Hmmm, someone seems to have failed to read my very first post correctly.

Here are the two crucial comments I made. For your convinience, this time in all bold letters, so you may read it correctly -
Hence, I totally support banning smoking in all public places.

If people want to smoke, let them smoke in their own private areas instead of public places. As long as the smokers do not make the non-smokers victims of their second hand smoke, I believe it is well and good.

Now read over and over again until you know the meaning of "If people want to smoke, let them smoke in their own private areas instead of public places", which was taken out from my very first post.

Get it? If you still cannot get it, I cannot help you anymore! I have to be at TI at 9:00AM sharp. So have to leave in a bit. But I hope this time you interpret correctly what i meant. Thanks.
