A Second Temple Jewish house has been uncovered in Jerusalem's ancient City of David, Israel's Antiquities Authority announced Sunday.

The 2,000 year old private home, which archeologists believe was part of a complex of homes belonging to affluent people, was discovered during an excavation at the history-rich site last month.

Several rooms of the split-level house - as well as a ritual bath - were found at the compound, archeologist Tzvika Greenhaut who was charged with excavation at the site said.

The plot of land, located across from the Kidron Valley in the present day Arab neighborhood of Silwan, is owned by the right-wing Elad organization, which works to resettle Jews in east Jerusalem.

"We are talking about a house belonging to a very rich family," Greenhaut said, noting that the ruins were hewn into the rock in a very high standard.

The newly uncovered site will be open to the public, he said.

Tomorrow there will be Palestinians living there, claiming that it was always theirs.

How long before it's declared a Muslim holy site?

"Tomorrow there will be Palestinians living there, claiming that it was always theirs."

And whoever runs the PLO tomorrow will be on TV showing off the latest modern Paleostinian (not "sic") amenities the home has --- hot and cold rocks, throwing rocks, rocks for sitting, rocks for sleeping, etc.

And of course, the ever-popular "rocks for stoning women", tailored to Koranic specifications.

Yes, it is the alternative Promised Land for those who can't put up with Canninites, er, I mean Paleostinians.

Very close examination of the "genes" Israeli Jews, Israeli Arabs, and Palestinian Arabs hold in common as "markers" strongly suggest they are all the very same people, and different from those around them.

You have to travel all the way to Kurdistan to find others like them.

So, yes, odds are there are Palestinians around who can say the place was always "theirs" because, after all, they are the same folks.

This really shouldn't be a surprise to anybody.

Frankly it's about as surprising as discovering the 3,000 year old folk-legends to the effect that the Basque people in Spain and the Irish people in Ireland are true ~ in short, not surprising at all!

Still, given the age of the site, it's entirely possible that the individuals who lived there in that house did not yet end up as universal ancestors to all mankind, but that will, ultimately, happen.

Not to belabor the case, but the Arab speaking population in Palestine didn't just pop up out of nowhere. They are as predominantely Caananite as the Israelis and Lebanese.

They are not "cousins". It's just that their people were converted to Islam in the 8th and 9th centuries, as were virtually all other Jews in the Middle East and North Africa except for those in Spain and Baghdad. Which means they never learned Ladino.
