Avolcano has erupted in Russia after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the eastern coast of the country, according to state-run media. The Russian news agency, TASS, reported that the Shiveluch volcano in the region of Kamchatka started to erupt on Saturday. CNN noted that the volcano is about 280 miles from the coastal city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, which has a population of 180,000.

Hawaii police arrested a man who allegedly robbed a wife and husband visiting from California and then proceeded to pursue them into a national park. The Santa Cruz couple, Alex and Justina Lucero, said they were robbed at gunpoint and forced to hide on Haleakala volcano on Maui for 24 hours between June 4 and June 5. When Mount Ruang in Indonesia underwent multiple explosive eruptions last week, volcanic gases were flung so high they reached the atmosphere’s second layer, tens of thousands of feet above ground.
