ANALYSIS: Paul Ryan Battling Donald Trump for Soul of Republican Party
CNN ^ | 05/06/2016 | Rick Klein

Posted on 05/06/2016 12:39:46 PM PDT by RayofHope

Donald Trump has used tweets to insult women and ethnic groups, and to drive news cycles over everything from his late-night TV choices to his midday food options.

But he escalated his feud this morning with House Speaker Paul Ryan in a profound way, with implications and ramifications that extend far beyond November.

“Paul Ryan said that I inherited something very special, the Republican Party,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Wrong, I didn't inherit it, I won it with millions of voters!”

On a basic level, Trump is right. He stands now as the presumptive Republican presidential nominee because of millions of the Republican Party’s own voters, and in spite of, almost to a man and woman, the party’s leadership.

Not unless he wins in November. If not he will find out the title of titular head of the Republican party means about as much as the titular archbishop of Nineveh. Right now he is just borrowing the party.

If it were a 12 round heavyweight fight, it would be stopped after 14 seconds.

The headline is dead wrong. Ryan is battling for the soul of the party. He’s battling for many millions of dollars from donors who he will then carry water for in creating policy. He’s sold out for money. The only soul involved is his own black soul that he sold to the devil.

As usual the Political media is completely clueless.

There is no battle here. Like all good little political whores, Ryan is still negotiating his price. The bad ones all ready settled for what ever pocket lint they got from Trump.

The dumb ones are all over trying to give it away to the losers at the corner of #Never Trump and Political Irrelevance street.

Paul Ryan?! I’d rather take my chances with Donald Trump. Ryan is turncoat.

ABC, predictably, is seeking to foment a war between Republicans. The "American Broadcasting Company," is probably the least "American," of the major networks. (Aren't they also connected with ESPN, who has been firing sports legends, lately, because they dared express Conservative social views?)

The effort, here, is to elevate Speaker Ryan's pique of the moment into a celebrated cause, which it most definitely is not. As for ABC's opinion of core Republican principles? Just how many of their talking heads have ever backed a Republican Presidential candidate? If Ryan has any sense left, he will repudiate this effort to elevate his pique.

Let me make one other point. Is there any more basic core Republican principle than putting America First? Anything? Also, speaking of core principles, is not the Republican Party the one that first acted decisively in the 1920s to get a handle on unlimited immigration? Was it not the Democrats, who since 1965 have been associated with the flood of often incongruous immigration, often over Republican objections?

One could go down the list of major issues, and they would see that Donald Trump's stands are more in line with Republican policy over the past century, than are those of many whom the now Republican dissidents earlier supported, in the Primaries now coming to a conclusion.

But, again, this is ABC trying to stir up discord in our ranks.

“Paul Ryan said that I inherited something very special, the Republican Party,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Wrong, I didn't inherit it, I won it with millions of voters!”

I said that right away, we don't live in a monarchy, Trump earned this with his votes of support. Ryan is say out of his league and NEVER should have said anything in public until he discussed with Trump. I lost ALL respect for Ryan.

Ryan couldn’t even beat the laughing-hyena Biden in a debate. And he thinks he can outwit Trump?

If the Republican party had, in the first place, anything like a soul D Trump would still be in NY playing big fish in a little pond.

I believe Ryan is doing this to find out how Trump is at “negotiating”. I don’t think Ryan is going to fare well on Thursday.

Let’s never forget that Lyin’ Ryan is one of the Rino scumbags who promised everything during the 2012 election season and then delivered nothing.

Lyin’ Ryan deserves no respect. He’s one of the scumbags that we would like to see out of office.

Lyin’ Ryan is as much of a conservative as my Bichon Frise is a pitbull.
