Donald Trump Comes Out Of Iowa Looking Like Pat Buchanan
FiveThirtyEight ^ | February 2, 2016 | Nate Silver

On Monday, Iowa voters did something that Republican "party elites" had failed to do for more than seven months: They rejected Donald Trump.

Trump received 24 percent of the vote in the Iowa caucuses, placing him closer to the third-place candidate, Marco Rubio (23 percent), than to the winner, Ted Cruz (28 percent). Trump underperformed his polls, which had him winning Iowa with 29 percent of the vote, while Cruz and Rubio outperformed theirs.

It's not uncommon for the polls to be off in Iowa and other early-voting states, but the manner in which Trump underachieved is revealing. It turns out that few late-deciding voters went for him. According to entrance polls in Iowa, Trump won 39 percent of the vote among Iowans who decided on their candidate more than a month ago. But he took just 13 percent of voters who had decided in the last few days, with Rubio instead winning the plurality of those voters....

The fact that only 30% of state polls show DT in the lead without significant growth in months and high unfavorables, doesn’t phase that 25-30% of his hardcore supporters, never mind they blindly trust him with his progressive background and zero reasons to trust him, and they think he is a winner. They ignore facts, ridicule opponents and defend him.
I am so looking forward to NH.

Whoever is the last man standing besides Trump will beat Trump.

That is the fact of the matter, for sure. I think he has already started his losing streak.

It wasn’t a poll, it was internal, at the beginning of his campaign.

There is a 98.4% probability that the results of the Democratic polling were rigged (100% minus 1.6%).

http://usuncut.com/politics/hillary-clinton-won-6-out-of-6-coin-tosses/

Could the Republican results be rigged, too?

Neither Trump nor Sanders have ben taken out by the Iowa caucuses, which not so long ago were not very important, anyway. On to New Hampshire!!!!

“Our time is quickly running out, for Trump to turn this sinking ship around.”

Perhaps you have not been paying attention. Trump IS the sinking ship.

I pray you are right. The sooner the better.

Perhaps you’re wrong.

What, CRuz is ‘winning’ because of dirty tricks it took to win 8 out of 30 IA delegates? LOL.

History will show Pat was Tea Party before it was cool. Long story, it happened in Michigan from someone ( I won't say who, I know him ) who egged him on to say "We don't need a 3rd Party we need a Tea Party" at a rallye.

He was so ahead of his time it isn't even freakin' funny. The country turned their back on him, Reagan & Goldwater, in 92' he stood alone on principle. I am not sure Trump has Pat's Epistemological core, or even knows what that means...

I don’t buy that. I see the top 3 going all the way. Never down to a two man race. All 3 have enough money they won’t get out.

Iowa was not about the delegate count. The delegates will come. Iowa was about proving to America that Trump is not the winner he claims to be. Trump cannot win, despite his grand claims. Trump fans are delusional.

Cruz is a hard working constitutional conservative. He has been the consistent conservative who is built to win. Trump is just a flavor of the month, which unfortunately ran a bit too long.

Rubio is going to take out Cruz. I really believe that and then we will have Trump and Rubio fighting it out

I believe you believe that. But given the recent history of your crystal ball readings, you might as well be throwing darts.

“The only question is how high you want those taxes to be, in order to ensure our prosperity.”

The higher they are, the more prosperous we will be. It works like this. We put a really, really, big tariff on imports. Since imports will be so expensive, American companies can pay Americans really, really, high wages to manufacture the same stuff. Sure, things will be very, very expensive, but we’ll be paid really, really high wages so we will all be better off. Simple, isn’t it?

LOL.....speaking of delusional. Look, CRuz is my Senator. I supported his Senate campaign, and initially his Prez campaign...even though I was disappointed that he decided to run, so quickly...as (another) Jr Senator/career politician.

The bloom is off of that, er, rose. No thanks.

We’ll have to agree to disagree.

Nothing like having lived there to know what goes on. There are so many online pundits here who were analyzing and dissecting the polls, without knowing what the real life situation is like. Of course, the polls were all very wrong and misleading.

Wait, didn’t Trump come in second, ending up with one less delegate than Cruz? How is that being taken out?

Losing is losing. It don't matter if Denver wins the Super bowl by 1 point or by 20 points. They still win it. Equally, if the Panthers lose by 1 point they still lose. Get it?
