ccording to the transcript of Donald Trump's interview with Scott Pelley on 60 Minutes, Mr. Trump favors a single payer health care plan in certain situations. During the interview, Pelley asked Mr. Trump what his plan was to replace Obamacare would look like. Mr. Trump responded, saying "I am going to take care of everybody. I don’t care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody’s going to be taken care of much better than they’re taken care of now." When Pelley pressed Mr. Trump further about who would pay for this coverage, Mr. Trump said "the government’s gonna pay for it."

The part I find really weird is I am no where near as conservative as most on ths db but, like you, there is no way I could support Trump. Oddly, I have a lot of respect for Cruz, how he debates and runs his campaign.

That’s not what you said. You said Obamacare is better than what it replaced. That’s dead wrong. Go back to DUmmieland.

I feel like I’m in bizzaro world. Did I just read correctly that Obolacare is better than private insurance? Just because of one “gimmedat”? Is it better if you are 25 and can sponge off mom and dad? How about if you get sick and haven’t coverage, no worries, we’ll cover you too!

Wow. It is amazing. On what is supposed to be a conservative forum.

I refuse to have a discussion regarding single payer. I know the British NHS too well. In addition, we conservatives have hashed this out too many times and if you don’t understand the economics of healthcare insurance, or math, I don’t have time to enlighten you.

I have a degenerative muscular and joint disease. My wife and I have made the conscious decision not to use Medicare although we are eligible for it. We are sticking with the private healthcare we pay for because we know that the treatment that I receive will eventually be denied by the gubmint due to the high cost (4-5k per month) and I will be back in a wheelchair.

Don’t tell me about fair. When my costs continue to rise faster than my income, and my doctors spend more time on their computer than with me, we’ve gone from expensive and complicated to unaffordable and incomprehensible.

I will vote for our nominee, whomever that happens to be because I know one thing, we are better off with Trump or Cruz than with Hitlery. I hope the Donald evolves more on this topic.

we need to make sure everyone is covered enslaved. FTFY

My children will understand because universal coverage will make America Great Again! And "single payer" is just a myth because we are all gonna pay with our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor. All the damnable "Cares" we cling to will be the flotsam of the Titanic.

I’m personally more concerned about who gets to appoint the next Supremes

Better to vacate and abolish the Supremes altogether.

The dems will likely win the election regardless who is the Republican nominee. Hussein is swearing in new voter citizens wholesale even now and will continue right up to November next. Illegals who have voted successfully for decades at about a 6% rate will vote at a much higher rate with the DoJ enforcing dont-ask-dont-tell at polling places in states that do not have voter ID laws. Soros will count the votes from a significant number of the digital voting machines again. All the other electronic machines are subject to hacking probably from a single location if they connect to internet. Republicans do not have a history of hacking those machines. Democrats did it a lot last cycle. Remember the reports from numerous places about voting for the R and it registering the D? And, of course, the Military votes will all be thrown out in states that trend Republican as is the custom, at least of the last several elections. I do not expect a Republican win, even if Republicans get 60% of the legitimate vote or 70%.

Peoples views are allowed to evolve,

And if Trump is elected and his views continue to "evolve" and become full fledged liberalism - that's okay with you?

Trump is not who people think he is. He has picked a few issues and ridden them very well added to the fact that he can handle barbs thrown at him with savvy not seen in ages.

He is a NY billionaire who has hung out with the NY elite all his life. His is not Joe the plumber or a die hard Constitutionalist. His friends are liberals. This guy is Ross Perot or Bill O'Reilly ...he is a populist that is hitting the nail on the head with a few issues and you really do not know all he believes.

Trump is more than likely going to win this thing then piss the people off who think they know him and voted for him. The Supreme Court will be the saddest part.

That is not exactly what I said.

I did not say it is better. I do however strongly believe, Obamacare improved things about our insurance. It covered a whole bunch of people who were left out, prior to Obamacare.

A lot of people were not previously covered. For specific things which exempted them. That is a (huge) problem, and Obamacare did improve our healthcare by providing coverage for people who were no longer covered, because our system no longer covered them for various reasons.

On the other hand, others did not experience improved coverage, and do not like the new system. I completely agree with what you are saying. Completely so.

Fix that part of what we currently have. That is I believe what you’re saying, and I completely agree with you on that part, and it is a very big part of our health insurance.

I am saying we need to keep the improvements, while changing the things which people who previously had, and liked their insurance, found objectionable to in the new system.

Those are the things you are saying did not improve, and I completely agree with you. Absolutely.

But Obamacare was a very important thing, nobody had done a thing to improve our system of healthcare until Obamacare did those things, and I give credit where it is due.

Obamacare was badly needed. It is probably the only thing I will agree with Obama on. Ever. On anything. I strongly oppose Obama on any number of things, which I see every single day. He is wrong, he seems stuck on stupid, and I oppose him in every other way. But he deserves credit for covering millions of Americans who were previously excluded.

Those people need that coverage. That coverage was hugely important to every one of them.

What you’re saying is the others who were impacted by the changes were negatively impacted, and I completely agree with you on that.

In every regard. We need to change the 90% of coverage which was negatively impacted by Obamacare, for 90% of Americans. That is what Trump seems to be addressing. And he seems to be completely right to say so. I get that, and I completely agree with you on that. I do.

But Obamacare was very very significant, and I support it (strongly) for the people it covers, who were not previously covered.

American healthcare is far too expensive to leave people without insurance.

Far, far too expensive.

So fix what is broken about our current insurance (which is the majority of the coverage) but leave the things about Obamacare which actually improved things for some people.

There were improvements. Quite significant. Those are the things I strongly support, and for which I catch quite a lot of flack for on this board. But I believe in standing up for what I believe in, and in this one case, Obamacare is right. 100% right. For a relatively small bunch of Americans (still measured in the millions, not an insignificant number by the way). Those people need that coverage and that is what we need to keep.

Change the rest. But keep Obamacare for those who want it. It is very, very helpful for some people.

Supreme court nominees are elected by Congress, not the President...Trump seems to hold views far closer to Ted Cruz than any of the rest of them running for Prez...There's no doubt in my mind that Trump will nominate someone who is strong on the 1st and 2nd Amendments...Those two Amendments give us the power to protect the rest of them...

The President, whomever that may be needs to get Congress to move in his direction instead of the way of the lobbyists, whether it be from fear or conviction...

Convince us that Cruz can do that and we may vote for Cruz...Otherwise it Trump all the way to Washington...

And with Cruz as the nominee ( which hopefully won’t happen in ‘16 ! ), the Dems will win the presidency; yet again.

The establishment war cry yet again. "We better run the RINO because the Conservative can't win."

I did not say it is better. I do however strongly believe, Obamacare improved things about our insurance. It covered a whole bunch of people who were left out, prior to Obamacare.

But you left out the truth that a lot of working people lost their insurance and more will lose due to the insurance price increases...Yet these same people continue to pay for Obamacare even tho they lost their own insurance

Like I said.

I am not being a supporter for Obamacare, except for that section of Americans who need it.

Leave that entirely alone. Completely. If people need Obamacare, they need it. Period. That is what I am saying, and that is the entirety of what I am saying. It is very important.

I did not leave out any truth about the people who are negatively impacted by Obamacare.

That is a huge number.

All I am saying is there are millions of Americas who very much like their coverage.

Those are the people I am speaking for, strongly. Leave their coverage untouched.

However we can change all the rest. All the rest. I completely agree.

That’s not my line — that’s a line I was responding to. As you noted, they said the same things about Reagan. How’d that work out?

He's clearly describing a private competitive system that will cover most people.

When Trump says, "I am going to take care of everybody. I don't care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody's going to be taken care of much better than they're taken care of now" that doesn't sound like "most people". That sounds like "everybody" as in everyone in the country. And when he says that he will do it, that sounds like the government and not private competitive companies.

It really just proves the "conservative media" can be just as dishonest as the left-stream media.

Or that people listen to Trump without actually hearing what he's saying.

HSAs, being able to buy insurance across state lines, and either removing the employer deduction for insurance or extending it to individuals and non-employment groups (churches, the Lions, or just a group of like-minded people), all would help.

IF we need government involvement, it would only be to establish and maintain HSAs for those too poor to fund it themselves.

What would be worse than 0bamacare? Canadian-style healthcare.

Tehre is a reason Canadian doctors have “second” practices in the US and Canadian patients come and get treatment here.
