I Don’t Think This New Rand Paul Ad Sends the Right Message
The PJ Tatler ^ | April 6, 2006 | Paula Bolyard

Posted on 04/06/2015 12:06:04 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

"Even Candy Crowley loves him!" is not exactly rallying cry for the GOP base.

Rand Paul’s new ad, released this weekend ahead of his announcement that he is running for president, is a bit…unusual, to say the least. Instead of leading with America, apple pie, and corn fields, Rand Paul chose to lead with — I am not making this up — CNN’s Candy Crowley!

The video, called “A Different Kind of Republican Leader,” features a lineup of liberal media personalities praising Rand Paul, including Crowley, Jon Stewart, and Chris Matthews as well as former RNC Chairman Michael Steele, who has spent the last year trashing nearly every conservative tenet of the Republican Party. In fairness, the video does also include Sean Hannity and Chris Wallace from Fox News, interspersed with clips of Paul’s speech at CPAC.

Paul’s decision to feature the media — the conservative-hating the liberal media — in an ad the week he’s announcing that he’s running for president is a little (actually, a lot) tone deaf. Has there been a single poll of Republican primary voters in which “approved by the liberal media elites” is a top priority? If there is, I haven’t seen it.

It leaves me wondering who Rand Paul is trying to impress with this ad. The media? The Republican establishment? Big money donors? “Even Candy Crowley loves him!” is not exactly rallying cry for the GOP base, is it?

If having liberals love him is his goal, then keeping him out of the White House will be my goal.

All Rand Paul is worried about is what the media thinks of him. Apparently.

Of those listed, isn’t Chris Matthews the only one who still has his regular job?

Very, very, very, very few politicians understand anything important. Sad truth, but truth indeed. You can't spend the amount of time it takes to become savvy enough politically to survive in that environment, and at the same time retain enough of your idealism and ethics to be capable of being the kind of insightful, caring, self-effacing, and uncorrupted person that it takes to be a great leader. Our political system does a great job polishing and presenting butt-heads for office. Amazing, sad, and true.

Ron Paul built a heck of a business, with him as a sort of cult leader, and I think it has become the family business.

Ron Paul brought in many millions of dollars and maintained a lifestyle and a level of fame and importance as he marketed himself, he was the little congressman that couldn’t even win a state wide office in Texas, yet could live the life of campaigning for president periodically, and I think that is Rand’s back up goal in politics.

I assume that Rand will see how far he can take this presidential thing just in case he can make it authentic, but in the end, he will have successfully transferred the family business from his aging father to himself, no matter what.

I think that explains some of these mystifying goofy things he does that don’t seem to make sense and hurts him with conservatives, if he was seriously running for the presidency.
If you notice, a lot of the goofiness is to bring new gullible youth into his family cult business, a fresh supply of donors to tap over, the rest of his life.

In the fifty-eleven years that Ron Paul consistently ran for president, his only accomplishment was to hand over electoral votes to the Democrats.

Rand Paul will do the same. They both work for the Democrats.

How about ‘Even David Duke Loves Him!!” Some endorsements are unhelpful. I thought the Paul’s were smarter than this.

I can see why Rand would use Candy Crowley in his ad. She is a great figure in pop culture! I thought she was great in that Star Wars movie, even though Princess Leia stole the scene in that skimpy gold outfit.

I thought the ad started out strong and was very good at first, but then it went on too long and Paul started looking smaller, and like he was trying to punch out of his league.

The ad went from effective, to fading, to reminding me a little of a Dukakis, to becoming a little creepy.

Typical Rand Paul.

I would have to worry about having a fat wench like me, in particular a liberal fat wench. I would feel much more comfortable knowing that I am hated.

Where does this leave us? Sorry can’t trust this guy, although he’s better than Hillary.

Since Rand Paul has not offered any substantial policy ideas, I guess pandering to the media will be his strategy until he can figure out where he actually stands on the issures. So far, he has adopted the “Me too” position following Cruz on Flat Tax and restructuring the IRS.
He can’t possibly think in the current environment anyone is going to seriously support his views on foreign policy.

Someone needs to remind Rand, The Prestitutes fawned all over McInsane until he became the Nominee.

Any one that would even sit down for a Interview with Crowley has judgement I question.
