The New York Post ^ | May 28, 2012

US veterans overwhelmingly support Mitt Romney over President Obama and are responsible for the former Massachusetts governor's advantage among men overall, according to a new analysis released Monday.

Romney leads Obama 58 percent to 34 percent among veterans, while Obama holds a four-percentage-point advantage over Romney among nonveterans, according to Gallup.

According to the data, 24 percent of all adult men are veterans, compared to two percent of adult women. The data were from an analysis of Gallup Daily Tracking interviews conducted from April 11-May 24.

Among all registered voters, Obama and Romney are tied at 46 percent.

Romney leads Obama 50 percent to 42 percent among all men -- an advantage that is driven almost entirely by veterans, according to Gallup. He leads the president 60 percent to 32 percent among male veterans and 46 percent to 45 percent among nonveteran men....

Only 54 to 34? How in he11 can any veteran possibly support this phony poseur?
But then, I don’t understand how any military person can be a Democrat in the first place.

I don’t believe for one second they are tied. I’m glad the media is doing this, it means EVERY SINGLE REPUBLICAN will vote in the election to make sure we get rid of this crazy lunatic in the White House. I hope Ron Paul doesn’t screw it up. He’s doing a good job of it here in Arizona.

Possibly they’re counting homosexual and black veterans?

Remember: What you tell a pollster on the phone, (a complete stranger whos ethnicity and attitude about “Dear Leader, our first black president” you don’t know), and what you do in the privacy of the voting booth with a secret ballot can be two ENTIRELY different things!

Mr. Romney never served in military anymore than Mr. Obama. We KNOW that a continued Obama administration will be bad for the country and the military. However, I am concerned that Mr. Romney talks a big talk, but would toss the military and veterans under the bus like the RINO he is. Has Mr. Romney even remotely suggested it is time to restore DADT which a lame duck congress forced upon the military? His talk is hollow RINO speak. No, both Mr. Obama and the GOPe nominated Mr. Romney don’t deserve the votes of conservatives. This veteran, and I’m NOT a poser, will NOT support Mr. Romney in a general election anymore than I would vote for Mr. Obama.

I will vote for conservative nominees for Congress and the Senate, but I won’t support Mr. Romney anymore than I would Mr. Obama. I will just leave that portion of the ballot blank.

“That’s OK, that’ll suit Obama and the communists just fine.”

Look bozo, not voting for Romney is NOT voting for Obama. I refuse to put a GOP poser in office to get rid of a horrid Democrate. Romney, is just talk and NO action. Romney DOES NOT represent the conservative base of the GOP. He was foisted on us by the GOPe. I don’t take orders from nefarious characters in a smoke filled room. I never really had a hard core pick in the primary (I did sort of settled on Newt because he was the best debater), I just didn’t want either Romney or Paul to represent the GOP....because they don’t. Paul is a wacked out Libertarian, and Romney is the “establishment” pick and the epitome of what RINO means. The whole primary was a farce. Romeny doesn’t represent my values, beliefs, etc. I won’t vote for him. To vote for him is to sanction the continued tyrany of the GOPe on the GOP. I WILL oppose Obama by supporting true conservatives running in the House and Senate, but I will not support Romeny anymore than I would Obama by my vote. I say that as a conservative and veteran.

BTW - Mr. Magic Mormon NEVER served in the military!

And if our "military" took their enlistment oaths to heart, there would not be, nor would we ever have been an Obama "problem".

We’re not choosing between Mr. Obama and General Eisenhower or Mr. Obama and General Washington, we’re faced with the choice of two men with absolutely no time in uniform. Both very flawed men. However, I don’t believe that Gov. Romney is anywhere near as misshapen by his past as is Mr. Obama, do you? Do you truly believe that Gov. Romney hates America and wants her ruined? Because I believe that of Mr. Obama. With all my heart!

“Both very flawed men.”

Agreed.

“However, I don’t believe that Gov. Romney is anywhere near as misshapen by his past as is Mr. Obama, do you?”

Yes, I do. However, in ways different than Mr. Obama. He will hurt any chance of conservatism every being established again. Plus, he takes his orders from the GOPe and Salt Lake City. He cannot be allowed to be POTUS. That is to allow continued tyranny of the GOPe over its conservative base. Why, wih many good picks this season, was Romney the nominee? He bought the election. He slanderd and libeled other candidates. Now he wants us to back him. No way, not this conservative. I will not support him.

“Do you truly believe that Gov. Romney hates America and wants her ruined?”

I think Mr. Romney ONLY cares about Mr. Romney and Mormonism. He isn’t interested in the same values that I am. Try establishing a church in Utah other than a Mormon congregation - you are harrassed and belonging will hurt your employeement. (Mormons only believe in “religious freedom” for Mormons) He is a puppet of the godless GOPe and the Salt Lake City Mafia. He is always and only about profit and spreading Mormonisn. Joseph Smith was one of the greatest Flim Flam artists of the 19th Century (its L. Ron Hubbard). Folks are still drinking his Jim Jones style cyanide Koolaid. I will not!

It is a given that Mr. Obama doesn’t like America; he also only cares about himself. However, a strong (conservative) congress can keep him in check and block bad SCOTUS appointments. No one can keep Mr. Romney in check - Conservative members of congress will have to back him in stead of blocking him - that means disaster. He just isn’t POTUS material, anymore than Mr. Obama. Both are to be devoutly avoided.

But then, I don't understand how any military person can be a Democrat in the first place.

There is a higher percentage of blacks among veterans now than in the general population. They probably account for a good percentage of the Zero-supporting vets.

Hispanics trend likewise as a group, with greater percentages in the military than in the general population, and probably are supporting Zero but to a significantly lesser extent.

I heard this story reported on ABC Radio News yesterday. In typical biased MSM fashion, they "reported" that vets favored Romney over Obama, but gave absolutely no numbers to show how huge an advantage Romney had.

” How can any veteran possibly support this phony poseur?”

Um . . . because there are a lot of WWII vets and Korean War-era vets that are yellow-dog democrats. Describes my father and uncle. Neither would vote for a Republican because the Republicans “caused” the Great Depression. (Yes, I *know* that’s not true, but convince them of that. I haven’t after 25 years of trying.)

For that matter Charlie Rangle is a vet. So is the moron Democrat (but I repeat myself) Senator Connecticut elected in 2010 — even though he is not a combat veteran (as he claimed).

My godfather when I was baptized after adoption in 1960 at 4 months was my parents’ Lutheran minister in Southern California. Later, we visited him at his church assignment in Salt Lake City in the early 1970’s. I don’t recall him being harrassed or burned out. Should I get him on the phone?

Factor out Black veterans and the lead would be really huge.

“I don’t recall him being harrassed or burned out. Should I get him on the phone?”

It is not as simplistic as you are making it sound. Speak with Baptists trying to start new congregations in Utah. They find it very hard to get a building permit, etc. Zoning laws and other ordanances are used to suppress non-Mormons, especially those that are evangelistic from establishing places of worship. IF you don’t try to convert others, the Mormons will leave you alone. They send thousands to covert persons to their “religion” (it isn’t Christianity) worldwide, but won’t allow others to do the same on their territories. They do NOT believe in Freedom of Religion anymore than Islamists do; they agree only because it currently benefits them. IF they were ever in a majority, they would ban all other forms of worship...depend on it. The ONLY thing that has kept them in check has been the power of the federal government over them. You need to study the history of Utah.

BTW, one of the things that scared people about Joseph Smith was his forming his own private army and giving himself the rank of Lieutenant General. It was things like this, his destroying a newspaper that printed material against him, and other things that got him killed, plus got Mormons kicked out of many states. Read about the Mountain Meadows Massacre that the remnants of J.S.’s army carried out in Utah against persons passing through Utah. It was also the weird nonsense of Mormonism that kept them from getting statehood for Utah.

If you want to vote for a cultest and GOPe picked liberal from Mass. that is your choice, but don’t try to pawn that loser on others more conservative (or maybe less compromising) than yourself.

Like I said, both Obama and Romney should not be POTUS. You asked questions, and I gave you straight answers. IF you don’t like the answers, then don’t ask the questions.

I do not agree with you that Romney is any better than Obama. Each in their own ways are bad. I will not support either ever. I was reading today that the general attitude towards Romney is that he is the “lesser of two evils.” That may be so, but he is still too evil for me to consider a lesser.

Until conservative members of the GOP are willing to say “no more compromize” on core issues, the GOPe will continue to foist Romney’s on us. I won’t play along anymore. I have voted for every GOP candidate for POTUS since 1976. I will not do so this year. Of course, I would NEVER support Obama. But, Romney (the minion of the GOPe and Salt Lake City mafia) will not get my vote. Even IF Sarah Palin was his VP running mate. I could somewhat stomach McCain, I cannot Romney. Totally unacceptable to me.

IF he should win, it will only be because of the great revulsion and fear(rightfully so) that many have developed for Mr. Obama. Well, I fear 4 more years of Obama as well, but my disgust with Romney is greater than my fear of Obama.

“my parents’ Lutheran minister”

Since you brought him up. Ask him some time, what happened to persons that left Mormonism? How were they treated. Did he ever have an ex-Mormon as a member of his congregation? That would be more telling. Of course the Mormons aren’t going to burn down his church....they don’t want the Feds on them. They have no love or respect for non-Mormons.
