RUSH LIMBAUGH: BUSH "NO CONSERVATIVE"

It took a while for Bush to win over Conservatives who now support him all way. That's why I hate it when the word RHINO is thrown left and right when talking about a Republican who may do something that seems out of step with what we agree with and we don't realize that politics is all about winning and looking like a "centrist"

Conservative talkmeister Rush Limbaugh blasted away at George W. Bush with both barrels today, stoking a possible clash between grass-roots conservatives and the front-running candidate who is already pursuing a centerist general election strategy.

"He's really wandered off the reservation here lately folks," Limbaugh intoned, before making the case against the recent Bush positioning.

"Who wants a Republican moderate as president?" Limbaugh asked, a question the Bush camp must hope that other conservatives don't begin asking.

Hello?? 1999?? Three years ago? President Bush has proven himself to be a conservative, albeit not a fire-breathing, in-your-face shove it down yer throat conservative. Fine, I don't care; he's gotten the job done.

You know, and I say this with the utmost respect for the honest FREEPers and the talk show pundits out there--it is so **** easy to sit at a keyboard and rip our President and tell him what he's doing wrong and how he's screwed up and how he better start toeing the line or else you won't support him. Does it always mean a conservative slam dunk? No. Hell no. But right now we've got a strong voice at the table. And the anti-Bush blabbery we're hearing is exactly what the 'rats and Socialists love.

Because if Bush is gone, who is in? It sure ain't someone more conservative, I can guaran-damn-tee you that. It'll be a liberal. And where will the conservative voice be heard in the public policy arena then? On the keyboards of cyberspace and the talk radio airwaves. But not in the halls of governance.

I hate to disagree with you, but I have been a Rush fan since 90, and Rush Limbaugh is a Conservative. I've read his books and they hold true to conservatism, as well.

GW Bush is the best president since Reagan, but he's no Reagan by any means.

GW is more conservative than his New World Order father, however, he is no Conservatives conservative.

Be that as it may, it is Jim Robinson's opinion that counts, and he did not mean 'Loose lips sink ships' to mean suppressing all discussion of what is right and wrong about a political office holder. He does oppose 'bashing' GOP officials, as opposed to criticizing certain specific actions they may take. The main page of FR, with its wish for what the President will say about campaign finance, will be implicit criticizm, should Bush not veto the bill.

Rush will have to rethink this. Since Delay, Armey and Ron Paul signed onto the 245(i) extension, they are now, along with Bush, RINO's.

You're free to stop listening. I think Rush needs to keep the heat on Bush. Either Bush is getting really bad advice from his advisors or he's a linguine-spined moderate who can't take a pee without taking a poll first.

If Bush were to actually behave like a conservative, then Rush could play cheerleader instead of critic. Here's just a little quote to think about:

Doesn't he understand that compromising on principles will alienate the core constituency of the Republican Party and suppress the voter turnout on election night?

W is headed towards one term, if he didn't learn the lesson the Dems learned on Nov 5th that if you try to act too much like the other party your message gets lost and the base stays home. He has yet to cut government anywhere but he keeps offering tax cuts and new unemployment benefits. Somethings got to give, but than again I'm one of those that think the GOP has abandoned the idea of smaller government. And if they give in to the race hustlers over Lott it all but dooms Bush to one term. If you play in the middle of the road you get hit by both sides.
