Plan on purchasing, owning, transporting and/or operating a firearm in your lifetime? Do not relocate to the state of Illinois. The state has one of the worst gun laws in the country and the Illinois Police and the Illinois Attorney General really need to stop pursuing innocent gun owners, sellers, and users, and pursue those who actually commit crimes that injure or harm others.
Stemming from a public safety initiative, Illinois implemented a law in 1968 that says a Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card must be issued by the Illinois State Police before a resident can possess or purchase firearms or ammunition. Whether this initiative has been successful in providing safety to the public is a story where the evidence in support of such an act leaves much to be desired.
Upon reviewing the States crime-rate statistics, nothing out of the ordinary has occurred after FOIL was made law. Nationally, we see crime rates increase through the 1980s with a decrease across the board, in the mid 1990s through today. My gut tells me that FOID has done absolutely nothing to provide for public safety, and instead, FOID serves as a template for other anti-firearm states in the Union to pass similar laws, costing the Illinois taxpayer an untold amount of funds, all in the name of public safety. Um, I dont think so.

Vote with your dollars between elections when possible... Starve the democrats an their handlers.
My opinion ....
Communists fear law abiding, gun owning citizens.
They do not fear criminals, because they are criminals.
I would say gun laws in New York , and Washington DC are the worst, but anywhere with high crime where you need a gun to defend yourself is bad for legal, citizens to hold weapons.
These places protect their killers and criminals. It’s as simple as that.
High Crime? Bad gun laws-—think about it. Who are they protecting?
Gun control is kind of like trying to solve drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to own cars.
“Gun control is kind of like trying to solve drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to own cars.”
This is yet another example of big city politics & gun control owning the rest of a mostly rural state. In this case, Chicago rules.
Most of Illinois is located outdoors. I drove the length of the state from Paducah KY to Beloit WI and have never seen so many silos & farmhouses.
Al Capone once bamboozled Chicago police by forcing them to arrest him for carrying an illegal handgun: “Here’s my gun, arrest me!”
Somewhere in H###, Scarface is laughing.

And not surprising that gun-control Romney won the primary in this state.
Not only did NRA A+ rating Rick Santorum vote for our 2nd Amendment rights, but he fought to keep gun companies in the U.S.A.! Santorum gets things done, because he is a figher!
Just ask the NRA CEO:
He [Rick Santorum] was the most effective advocate of bringing it [legislation to protect gun companies from frivolous lawsuits] to the floor and getting a vote scheduled. He used his influence to get it to the floor. Without that, we would have lost every American gun company.
Wayne LaPierre, CEO National Rifle Association, October 25, 2006
Think about this, if you haven’t voted in the primaries yet.
You have to look at England to see the big picture.
Socialism is theft, pure and simple. After the first socialist generation, more and more recipients started to eliminate the middleman by stealing directly.
At first, the thieves in the government tried arresting and punishing the thieves, especially if they killed their victims.
But after a while, the thieves in the government recognized that their brother thieves were simply a pursuing a more efficient way of dispossessing the Class Enemy. So, penalties became less and less, and resistance to theft was turned into a crime.
England is PARTICULARLY concerned when the thief is hurt or killed, because, if you allow that, the professional thieves who run the state may well be next.
New York, DC, Illinois, and some other areas/states are advanced kleptocracies, where the government thieves and the street thieves are engaged in a joint enterprise.
It’s really not too hard to understand, once you get it.
The government has never been able to protect individual citizens and it does not have any legal duty to do so. The FOID card system like many similar systems favors the rich, celebrities, and those with powerful political ties.
The average citizen is left with the 9-1-1 system and police which have never been reliable in protecting an individual. Thus, the citizen must depend on the government and give up more of their hard earned money.
This is called taxes and fines, but it is protection/extortion money to politicians. The same politicians who own guns themselves and who are personally protected by police and armed body guards aplenty.
