Comedian Rob Schneider converts to Catholicism, vows to show 'Christ's forgiveness'

A famous comedian has announced his conversion to Catholicism and repentance for what he characterized as a failure to show “Christ’s forgiveness” to those he disagreed with.

Rob Schneider, a “Saturday Night Live” alumnus known for starring in the comedy movies “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo” and “The Animal” as well as his multiple appearances in Adam Sandler movies, announced on X on Oct. 31 that he had converted to Catholicism. Schneider’s post, which coincided with his 60th birthday, began with a declaration that “I am the luckiest man in the world” and featured shout-outs to his wife, Patricia, and their three daughters, Elle, Miranda and Madeleine.

I want thank ALL of the lovely people for their kind birthday wishes for me today on my 60th birthday.
I am the luckiest man in the world.

I have a wonderful partner in life, my beautiful wife Patricia and three lovely daughters; Elle, Miranda and Madeline.

Today, I am reminded of what Dr. M Scott Peck told me over 30 years ago: At 40, you feel like you can conquer the world and there’s a sense that nothing can stop you.

But at 60 you realize the very real fragility of life and temporariness of it all. A humbling knowledge that there is indeed a time limit for all things and that God’s design though perfect, is precious far beyond its brevity.

Today, I am also reminded of the Hindu story that my friend Bill from Lowell Arkansas told me about a man at his funeral. Looking at the man, “Would this man lying here ask for more riches and Gold from the world? Would this man ask to be more famous and well regarded by others? Would he ask to be taller or look more handsome? No. The only thing this man lying here today would ask for was much simpler…more time.”

If you are reading this now, then you too have time! Use it wisely, use it unwisely too! But USE it. Be IN it. Be aware that you are part of ALL of it and that the separateness you sometimes feel is an illusion. Just as your heart beats without being told, you are as integral to the Sun that fires and the planets that circle it as your heart is a part of you.

For the atheists, God loves you too. The mistake you make is to think the universe is a stupid thing that just bumps into things and expands ignorantly and without reason or intelligence.

And that somehow we human beings, with our intelligence is just some kind of ‘freak’ universal accident.

To you I say this, if there is such a thing as kindness, empathy, compassion and love…it is because you found it in other people. And as my dear friend Norm Macdonald once said, “We are part of this universe, indeed a mere fraction of it, so if we have kindness and love, how much more the universe itself.” For if we are capable of love, it is because it is endemic to the universe itself.

To quote Alan Watts, “For we didn’t come ‘in’ to the world, we came ‘out’ of it. We are the universe evolving to the point of consciousness, so that the universe, us, can experience existence and life in all it’s wonder and beauty and glorious exuberance.”

Lastly, as I am a new convert to Catholicism, I offer my apology for my lack of Christ’s forgiveness to my fellow man.

I was so angry at the people who shut down schools and indeed the world and who coerced others to do things against their will which hurt many people deeply. I offer my unconditional forgiveness and amnesty.

For how can I stay mad at the famous singer who would not let others in to his Broadway show unless they had an experiential jab. I will never forget how kind he was to me and my friends when he was the musical guest on SNL. How can I continue to hold a grudge against the actor who shamed people like me but has been such a great example for other actors to never give up and keep fighting for their dreams.

How can I still be mad at the lovely actress that said she could no longer be friends with people like me who didn’t ‘get’ it, knowing how incredibly kind she is with every child she meets.

I am humbled by the example of my mother Pilar and how she was able to forgive the WW2 occupiers of her Philippines who killed both her brothers.

At last it is forgiveness itself that is the gift that we give ourselves because it frees us as The Christ intends for all of us to be free.

For His gift of ultimate and unlimited forgiveness is indeed the gift for all humanity.

May God bless you and your families now and forever.

With all my “You can do it” love, Robbie Schneider

“Today I am reminded of what Dr. M Scott Peck told me over 30 years ago: At 40, you feel like you can conquer the world and there’s a sense that nothing can stop you,” he wrote. “But at 60 you realize the very real fragility of life and [the] temporariness of it all. A humbling knowledge that there is indeed a time limit for all things and that God’s design though perfect, is precious far beyond its brevity.”

Toward the end of his post, Schneider told his followers, “I am a new convert to Catholicism.” The comedian indicated that his new faith had changed his perspective on life, as he offered “my apology for my lack of Christ’s forgiveness to my fellow man.”

“I was so angry at the people who shut down the schools and indeed the world and coerced others to do things against their will which hurt many people deeply,” he recalled. “I offer my unconditional forgiveness and amnesty.”

Schneider outlined several examples of people he believes need forgiveness without naming them directly. “How can I stay mad at the famous singers who would not let others into his Broadway show unless they had an experimental jab,” he asked, referring to the COVID-19 shots. “I will never forget how kind he was to me and my friends when he was the musical guest on SNL.”

“How can I continue to hold a grudge against the actor who shamed people like me but has been such a great example for other actors to never give up and keep fighting for their dreams. How can I still be mad at the lovely actress that said she could no longer be friends with people like me who didn’t ‘get’ it, knowing how incredibly kind she is with every child she meets.”

Schneider said he was “humbled” by his Filipino-born mother, Pilar, who “was able to forgive the [World War] 2 occupiers of her Philippines who killed both her brothers.”

He added, “It is forgiveness itself that is the gift that we give ourselves because it frees us as Christ intends for all of us to be free. For His gift of ultimate and unlimited forgiveness is indeed the gift for all humanity.”

The comedian concluded his message by stating, “May God bless you and your families now and forever.” Even before he went public with his new experience as a Catholic, Schneider has emerged as one of the more vocal conservatives in Hollywood in recent years.

Earlier this year, Schneider repeatedly weighed in on LGBT-related issues on his X account. In an April 19 post on X, which was known as Twitter at the time, Schneider reacted to a story about a female athlete “getting spiked in the face by a male competing with the women.”

“This sh– has to stop,” he said at the time. “If the parents, coaches, and ‘women’ athletes ALL REFUSE TO PLAY against these men …IT ALL STOPS!”

Two weeks earlier, on April 4, Schneider shared his thoughts on a video featuring the director of Boston Children’s Hospital’s Gender Multispecialty Service, maintaining that “a child will often know that they are transgender from the moment they have any ability to express themselves.”

The woman pointed to “trying on [an opposite sex] sibling’s clothing” and “playing with ‘opposite gender’ toys” as well as “girls ‘trying to stand to urinate’” as examples of young children identifying themselves as members of the opposite sex born in the wrong body.

“If kids put their arms sideways and run around the room they might be airplanes!” he sarcastically suggested in response to the video. Schneider’s advocacy against body mutilating sex-change surgeries, puberty blockers and opposite-sex hormones on minors dates back to at least last year, when he told Blaze Media host Glenn Beck that the genital mutilating surgeries amount to a “crime against humanity.”

Yep!

Ephesians 1:7
7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.

Acts 10:43
“To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

He needs JESUS!

The Catholic would let all three in and then step out and possibly lay down his life for his brothers.

St. Maximilian Kolbe, pray for us.

I’m perfectly well thank you. Better to hear the truth now rather than when it’s too late.

Proving once again that it is usually, though not always, the Roman Catholic who first resorts to the personal attack and/or profanity when the argument is against them; which is often.

...Yet here you are.

BUT I DON’T DISPARAGE OTHERS BELIEFS!!

Coulda fooled everyone on this forum.

Roman Catholicism, prior to Vatican II, had a lot of disparaging things to say about Christians.....and there are a number of Roman Catholics on these very forums who have a lot of disparaging things to say.

Typical from a “my way only” fake Christian like you.

Well, Christianity is a one way belief system. A person either believes in Christ for their salvation or they don't. It's that black and white. And it's for that reason many hate it.

Let me guess...Church if Christ

Nope. Just a follower of Christ...and only Christ.

Not for speaking the truth. Many reject the clear biblical message of faith in only Christ.

To: ealgeone I think it's amazing (amazingly sad, that is), that you think yourself competent to judge another person's salvation based only off the datapoint that he's a Catholic. So all Catholics are "lost," in your view?

One cannot say for certain only off the datapoint that he's one of the relative few Catholic. I myself surmise, as a former weekly and holy day mass-going RC, and altar boy, CCD teacher and lector - the latter after I actually became manifestly born of the Spirit thru penitent, heart-purifying, regenerating effectual faith in crucified and risen Lord Jesus, (Acts 10:43-47; 15:7-9) and has since personally spoken to (or tried to) thousands of Catholics in the US, that only about 1% here have experienced Biblical regeneration, thus presently being saved. Likewise liberal Prots, while maybe 60% of those identifying as evangelical or "born again" actually are so, or die as such.

One need not know much to be saved, (Ps. 34:18) as lack of conviction that one needs to be saved, and thus effectually repent and believe, is the main obstacle to conversion. Which RCs are not challenged to do so after infant (usually) baptism, being henceforth treated as children of God, under the false premise that the act itself of baptism effected regeneration, which rendered them good enough at that time to actually be with God in Heaven, and with Purgatory (usually) later getting them into shape to once again be able to actually enter Heaven.

Such is tragically the false gospel and false hope of the vast majority of Catholics, whose trust is in their church and or their own merits for salvation, under the rubric of God's grace.

* In the Bible, one is saved by penitent, heart-purifying, regenerating effectual faith, (Acts 10:43-47; 15:7-9) in the risen Divine Lord Jesus, who was sent by the Father to be the savior of the world. (1 John 4:14) who did everything Right, but then took responsibility for all we did Wrong, paying the price the forgiveness of our sin with His own sinless shed blood. (Isaiah 53:4–11; Luke 24:47; Luke 24:47; Col. 1:14)

* And 3 days later then rose and ascended to His Father in Heaven as Lord of all, and thus enabling regeneration (John 7:37, 38; 14:24,25; 16:7) when one essentially believes as described above. (Acts 15:7-9; Eph. 1:13; Titus 3:5)

* And which effectual faith is imputed for righteousness, (Romans 4:5) and results in following the Lord, (Jn. 10:27, 28; Romans 8:14) which is to formally begin with being baptized (Acts 2:38-47; 8:12,36,37)

* And by which faith the redeemed soul is "accepted in the Beloved" and positionally seated with Him in Heaven, on His account, glory to God. (Ephesians 1:6; 2:6; cf. Phil. 3:21)

* And those who die in that obedient faith will go to be forever with Him at death or His return, at "the first resurrection," (Revelation 20:5) “the resurrection of life, ” (Jn. 5:29a) "of the just." (Luke 14:14) For wherever Scripture clearly speak of the next conscious reality for those who die in that effectual faith then it is with the Lord, at death or His return (whatever comes first), by the grace of God. (Lk. 23:43 [cf. 2Cor. 12:4; Rv. 2:7]; Phil 1:23; 2Cor. 5:8 [“we”]; 1Cor. 15:51ff'; 1Thess. 4:17)

In contrast to those who were never born of the Spirit or who terminally fall away. (Gal. 5:1-4; Heb. 3:12; 10:25-39)

* And which believers will go with the Lord Jesus to the battle of Armageddon, “ (Jude 14-15; cf. Revelation 19:14) and also (after His return) stand before “the judgment seat of Christ” which is only for believers, and who will be judged as to rewards or loss thereof due their manner of workmanship in building the body of Christ, the church. (Lk. 14:14; cf. 1Cor. 3:8ff; 4:5; Acts 24:15)

* And who then be rulers under Christ in His literal 1,000 year reign: “Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.” (Revelation 20:6)

* After which the “great and notable day of the Lord” ‘ (Acts 2:20) culminates in the Great White Throne judgment, with “the resurrection of damnation” (Jn. 5:29b) and their judgment which occurs 1,000 years after “the first resurrection” (Rv. 20:6) the “resurrection of life, (”(Jn. 5:29a) and in which judgment believers will be part of the jury in the judgment of men and angels (1 Corinthians 6:3)

* In which the dead are judged out of those things which were written in the books, and whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire, (Rv. 20:11-5) with their degree of punishment being determined in accordance with how much light and grace was given. (Lk. 10:12-13; 12:47,48)
