It really is true: Francis Hates Americans

Catholic: Universal.
Pope: the Universal Father.
A Pope who
loved Americans

One would think that the Pope would not resort to generalizations about one national people or another. One would think so...and yet earlier today he went out of his way to criticize the people of the United States.

Edward Pentin has the story:

A throwaway remark by Pope Francis aboard the papal plane this morning raised a few eyebrows among those traveling with him — and sent his press handlers scrambling.

After takeoff on his way to the Mozambique capital of Maputo, the Pope customarily greeted journalists on the papal plane. Among those he met was Nicolas Seneze, Rome correspondent for the French Catholic daily newspaper La Croix, which just published Seneze’s book, How America Wants to Change the Pope.

The book threads together different aspects of this pontificate — in particular the McCarrick abuse scandal and the Archbishop Carlo Viganò testimony — to conclude that influential figures in the U.S. Church are out to, if not replace Pope Francis, then to actively challenge him.

The book quotes professor Massimo Faggioli of Villanova as saying wealthy conservative Catholics have stepped into the vacuum of authority left by the sex abuse scandal to become the de facto leaders of the Catholic Church in the U.S.
On the plane, Seneze presented his book to the Pope, who recognized the cover, as he had read a review of it.

The Italian daily newspaper Il Messaggero on Aug. 20 published a story headlined, “A plot from the USA to make the Pope resign.” A cover of Seneze’s book accompanied the article.

“He reads Il Messaggero every day so when he saw the cover of the copy I was holding, he instantly recognized it,” Seneze told the Register aboard the papal plane today, adding that the book was published in French today.

“When I explained the picture to the Pope, he said: ‘Per me è un onore che mi attaccano gli americani (For me it’s an honor that Americans attack me).’”

This national generalization is quite astonishing! Of course, it is to be expected from an ultra-leftist  Latin-American, and a Peronist, but not from a Pope.

In reply, Americans can only say, "It's an honor to be criticized by the likes of you."

Individual US Citizens do a lot of really good stuff, but we do a lot of really bad stuff too. Francis seems to be concerned about the latter.

What other nations has Francis expressed such concern about?

Certainly not Red China, Venezuela, Cuba, Vietnam, et al.

When you are on top, you get the most grief from the enemies. It’s simply how it works.

I’ve seen Francis as the enemy for years. From what I hear, a lot of Catholics do too.

Most likely, this pompous and godless false prophet has even more contempt for God-fearing, Bible-believing Christians than he does for ever Americans. I’m sure he has affection for the story-telling drag queens, though.

I didn’t say the country was that bad; I said Hollywood is that bad.

I was born here; I’ll die here.

This character is not a pope. He’s just a Third Worlder who tries to conjure up one indebtedness after another that the affluent nations owe to the poor nations. We must accept unlimited numbers of poor migrants and we owe endless debts to the Third World for the climate change hoax and numerous other bogus reasons.

I can’t believe any thinking person takes this character seriously as a pope.

I was referring to the post by Cuban Leaf, and it was the rhetorical “you” not you the individual.

Then he added, “it’s a bomb,” while handing book to aide.

Did pope mean book will fail, as in - it bombed? Or did he mean the book, since it actually is anti-American, will be explosive in revealing “truth” about trads?

(FYI, author gets trads wrong too, can’t wait for the review by the Remnant)

It’s not about people doing good and bad stuff. It’s about what you should focus on, based on your relationship with the person.

Cuban, I believe I know your perspective as a marriage councilor, but do you agree some people are plain bad? The Pope appears to be a bad person (protecting sex abuse, etc), so when he says “Americans/America” I think he is attacking the good in our country, not “Hollywood”. Not all relationships are fixed with with councilling; for example the Left has to be defeated.

It’s not about people doing good and bad stuff.

Are you really serious? In your post #16 you stated, in order to justify your dishing of the U.S.:

Individual US Citizens do a lot of really good stuff, but we do a lot of really bad stuff too.

Can you please make up your mind?
