Jesus said his Church would be “the light of the world.” He then noted that “a city set on a hill cannot be hid” (. This means his Church is a visible organization.

I checked 5 different Bibles, including KJV, RSV, NIV, and ESV and the word is not “church.” It is “You.” One word misquoted makes a big difference:

Matthew 5:

Salt and Light
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

So you don’t believe the Bible or accept the words (Truth) of Jesus in regard to Jesus establishing His catholic Church?

I trust the words of the Bible, but not other people’s paraphrase of it. I’m guilty of this as well, as I become lazy and work from memory rather than double checking.

Not because of anything we have done but all because of what He has done dying on that cruel cross and rising from the dead. How awesome is that!

Truly awesome!! Additionally, this gift is absolutely free at no cost to anyone and is childlike simple to get. It’s as simple as A,B,C. A=admit that you are a sinner. (Romans 3:10, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23) B=believe that Jesus is Lord and was crucified, was dead, buried then God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9-10) C=call upon the name of the Lord orally and publically (Romans 10:13).

Yes. We the baptized members are the church - the Body of Christ.

Unity in the Body. 1* I, then, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to live in a manner worthy of the call you have received,a 2with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another through love,b 3striving to preserve the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace:c 4* one body and one Spirit, as you were also called to the one hope of your call;d 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism;e 6one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.f

Ephesians 4

Baptism cleanses us of sins and brings the Holy Spirit and his grace into our souls (Acts 2:38, 22:16). And the apostle Peter is perhaps the most blunt of all: “Baptism now saves you” (1 Pet. 3:21). Baptism is the gateway into the Church.

Communal Life.* 42y They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers.z 43Awe came upon everyone, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.a 44All who believed were together and had all things in common;b

Acts 2

And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church,* and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.
Matthew 16:18

Why do some try to misconstrue the words and not understand the meaning and the way the Apostles established the early church that has continued till today?

If a man constructed a building and only put in ONE door..

said that only His family can come it, but that He is willing to adopt ANYONE who sincerely asks Him to...

Is He wrong?

Are there other ways in? After all, HE built the place with only ONE door. He knows.

Or should we listen to folks who choose not to humble themselves to ask for His adoption; who say that THEY belive you can get in some other way?

It’s pretty simple.

Because it is the Roman sect that misconstrues the words. The Rock is Jesus Christ not Peter. All are welcome to come to Christ and no denomination has the exclusive rights to Christianity. None.

“Tolerance has replaced TRUTH in our culture.”

Even “good” Christians have been taken in by themes drawn from Yeshua’s compassion toward sinners. They often cite examples like the woman at the well who was accused of adultery and whom Yeshua refused to condemn. The cite only the part of scripture that satisfies their argument. In the case of the woman at the well, they leave off Yeshua’s closing words to her - go and sin no more.

Yeshua ate with sinners. He did so not our of acceptance or tolerance of their sins, but so he could preach His word to them. He met with them so he was present with them to try to reach them, not to tell them their sins were O.K.

None of that is the “tolerance” now being preached.

Your comment: “Because it is the Roman sect that misconstrues the words. The Rock is Jesus Christ not Peter. “

So does your medical license give you the knowledge and authority to pronounce the Truth?

Perhaps that was mean spirited. You disregard the words of Jesus in the Bible and then say that the Catholic Church misconstrues the words with out any factual support.

I never said that “all are not welcome to follow Christ”.
However, other denominations have fallen away from the church Jesus founded and do not believe in all of the Truth and teachings of Jesus.

I truly hope that all find the Truth and follow the ways of Jesus that leads to eternal life with Him.

I will stand for the Truth of Jesus and His Catholic Church to the best of my ability.

Peace be with you and your family.

Truth is very exclusive. If it isn’t, it can’t be true...
If I say 2 multiplied by 2 = 4, that is a very dogmatic, intolerant statement
Truth cannot accept error.

You bring up an interesting point which exposes the deception and failure of the established doctrine model of belief. Lies cannot accept truth.

2 + 2 = 4

As do 1 + 3, 0 + 4, 2 x 2, 9 - 5, and so on. There are infinite ways to arrive at 4.

What is common to all is the solution, 4 representing truth in this analogy. At this point, the peanut gallery might be inclined to reject the "faulty" analogy and then proceed to correct the math.

If Truth is truly the destination (it's the right answer by its nature), then it can be found by way of 1 + 3 or 9 - 5, or any other combination of real numbers that arrive at 4.

Yet it's a 2 + 2 world of confusion out there, because every group has its own definition of 4, truth. Multiple 2 + 2 highways have been constructed in reverse from a predetermined final destination of truth falsely so called.

That same method leads to the settled science of climate change. There's no to there, but rather a descent from. The desired destination was built first, then the road. It's the reverse of the scientific method.

It all seems kosher because afterward the signs are posted as 2 + 2 Hwy. Anyone on Hwy 1 + 3 is deemed lost, because "everybody knows" that 2 + 2 Hwy is the way, and everyone had better be on it and stay on it, or super bad things will happen. Oceans will rise...

Something is very suspicious about Highway 2 + 2, because paradoxically there are so many of them. No paradox, because by this craft the apologetics industry has its wealth.

When the Temple stood in Jerusalem, the people would travel to Jerusalem three times a year for the pilgrim festivals. They came from the north, south, east and west. Destination Jerusalem. Was there only one road to the place from all of those different directions?

YES.

The road going up. Ascent from a lower to a higher place. The ancient understanding is the same today, that everyone traveling to Jerusalem is going up to Jerusalem, because Jerusalem is the highest spiritual place on the earth. 3 + 1 is the same road as 9 - 5, the road going up to the City of Truth.

The doctrinal battlefield where everyone is out to prove that his version of Jesus and the truth is the correct one is a place of massive traffic congestion and confusion, because of all the 2 + 2 highways going every which way. The roads lead to the same destination all right, because they are all headed straight down. You know how people get when stuck in a massive traffic jam. Patience is lost, tempers flair, everyone is on edge. Bickering, strife, personal insults...

Few ever catch on because most are convinced that they are traveling the way of truth, Hwy 2 + 2, and "everyone knows" not to take the exit and try that sketchy side road over there.

The "sketchy" side road is the one going up, but few find it. Ironic though, is that a lot of those folks are awaiting the Rapture mothership to beam them off of Hwy 2 + 2.

The Hebrew Bible (in the Jewish order of the books) ends with Cyrus the "Gentile Messiah" getting the last word:

2 Chron 36

22. And in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, so that the word of the Lord spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, and he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying:
23. Thus said Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth has the Lord God of heaven given me; and he has charged me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah; Whoever is among you of all his people, the Lord his God be with him, and let him go up:

The way is the way that goes up: love, compassion, mercy, patience, and the like. What Jesus said directly, and through many parables. The ticket out of bondage. Unfortunately that route is viewed with contempt, like the old A and B tickets at Disneyland. Everyone coveted the E tickets because those got them into the "good" (exciting) rides. That's funny too because It's a Small World and the Enchanted Tiki Room were also E ticket attractions. Talk about trapped in bondage, in the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room... lol, grrrr.

Who will recognize (or not recognize) the Messiah? History is about to repeat, because he's not going to align with the expectations of the religious scholars and skilled debaters who are absolutely certain that they "preach the Word" and therefore can spot a heretic and deceiver a mile away, the one who is trying to lead people away from Hwy 2 + 2. After all, Highway 2 + 2 is marked with reassuring signs every mile that say "Promised Land ahead".

The world is a parable. The world is a classroom.

Definition of imaginary number:

A number that when squared gives a negative result.

When we square a Real Number (multiply it by itself) we always get a positive, or zero, result. For example 2×2=4, and (-2)×(-2)=4 as well.

So how can we square a number and get a negative result? Because we "imagine" that we can.

The "unit" imaginary numbers (the same as "1" for Real Numbers) is v(-1) (the square root of minus one), and its symbol is i, or j.

https://www.mathsisfun.com/definitions/imaginary-number.html

"Math is hard." ~ Barbie

The serpent made it easy for everyone, labeling roads 2 + 2, because 2 + 2 is the idiom for obvious connections, obvious truth.

On a related note, I find it interesting that the Jewish tradition is that the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron is the entrance to the Garden of Eden. The name of Hebron is also Kiriat Arba, the "city of four."

Machpelah means "double", and the cave is the cave of the couples. God knows what the common idioms would be and where, before man thought to create them. The entrance to Paradise is the place where 2 + 2 = 4. No wonder it got buried.

only through the saving work

No amount of good works will get you into heaven. The only path is to accept Jesus.

A man dies and goes to heaven.

Of course, St. Peter meets him at the Pearly Gates.

St. Peter says, "Here's how it works. You need 100 points to make it into heaven. You tell me all the good things you've done, and I give you a certain number of points for each item, depending on how good it was. When you reach 100 points, you get in."

"Okay," the man says, "I was married to the same woman for 50 years and never cheated on her, even in my heart."

"That's wonderful," says St. Peter, "that's worth three points!"

"Three points?" he says. "Well, I attended church all my life and supported its ministry with my tithe and service."

"Terrific!" says St. Peter. "That's certainly worth a point."

"One point!?!!" "I started a soup kitchen in my city and worked in a shelter for homeless veterans."

"Fantastic, that's good for two more points," he says. "Two points!?!! "Exasperated, the man cries.

"At this rate the only way I'll get into heaven is by the grace of God."

"Bingo, 100 points! Come on in!"

The Rock is Jesus Christ not Peter.

Even a large number of Protestant exegetes reject this idea. (e.g.: Donald Carson, Expositor's Bible Commentary, Vol. 8, Zondervan, 1984).

It makes no sense in view of the Greek text of the verse. Try reading through the Greek on greekbible.com; you'll see what I mean.

We will agree to disagree you go to the church founded on Peter I will go to the one founded on Christ and Peters confession of Jesus as Christ and Lord.

You are correct. I misread saving work of Jesus as work for Jesus, as in doing good deeds.

Believers in the Old Testament looked forward to the time when God would redeem them through a Savior. They didn't have all the revelation at that time but only bits and pieces to know there would be a judgment after this life and that they would join God in heaven based upon His work.

Believers today, while we don't have all the revelation of the second coming or heaven, know more than our OT brethren for we can see the finish work of Christ who died for our sins and was raised for our justification (Rom 4:5).
