Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said he has written to the pope asking him to help mediate his country’s crisis after a swathe of nations recognised a rival opposition chief as interim leader.
“I sent a letter to Pope Francis,” Maduro told Italy’s SkyTG24 television in an interview broadcast on Monday, with opposition leader Juan Guaido gaining more international support.
“I told him that I serve Christ’s cause… and in this spirit I asked for his help, in a process of facilitating and strengthening dialogue,” said Maduro, who has rejected calls for snap presidential elections.
“I ask the pope to put in his best effort, his will, to help on the path of dialogue. I hope to receive a positive response,” he said. Maduro is supporting plans for a meeting of Latin American and European Union states in “Contact Group” talks in Montevideo on Thursday.

It's only a crisis to you. Virtually every citizen seems to want you to go somewhere else...anywhere else...and let someone else run the country. A good portion of the "crisis" would disappear if you would just step down.
I'm sure his Popeness can spare his commie friend a measly Trillion or two until he can straighten things out, after all Socialism will eventually work, evendors though it produces nothing AND destroys everything it touches.

The pope took an active part in bammy’s castro deal that gave the castros everything and us nothing. The pope went behind the scenes and facilitated the bammy/iran deal, that allowed iran to build a nuclear bomb and gave us nothing. The pope will be happy to assist, after all maduro is a communist, and the pope loves communism, because it makes the public poor and the ruling elite rich.
Hugo Chavez would give long speeches insisting that his Socialist policies were the Word of God put into action.
