Just a hunch, but those sisters may have a lot of assets in addition to the nursing facilities.
I hope they have support from their sister orders in the US.
They talk to God too much? Perhaps the officials need to do heed their example.
“The Vatican itself has been extremely authoritarian in the way it has treated the sisters.” Dictator Bergoglio strikes again.
I suggest the Sisters go wit the flow, accept the new uniform, accept the new daily schedule and trust that the losers will be gone in a few years. Then they can go back to normal.
I live in Spain and here the nuns go about in traditional dress all the time. Maybe the Vatican hasn’t made it this far yet.
We have a small chapel down the street from us run by 2 nuns. They spend all of their time ministering to the needs of the poor in the area so a couple of times a year when we happen to run into them at the supermarket we give them each a shopping cart and tell them to load it up only with things they need to support themselves. The latest shopping trip was last night. Even though they have carte blanche they keep it simple, buying things like washing powder, olive oil, boxed wines, packages of chicken, etc. I always make sure to throw in a couple of chocolate bars each. It’s a small gesture that makes everyone’s day a little nicer and bypasses all of the slimeballs we read about in the news.
The situation looks admittedly grim right now, but things are turning around at the grass roots level. Traditionalism is growing by leaps and bounds....it's full of large young families in sharp contrast to the nearly childless Masses of liberal parishes. Traditional orders have booming vocations and the average age of their nuns is in the 20s....meanwhile the liberal orders are full of elderly people with no one younger to replace them.
We won't have to leave. We are taking over the Church. It's gonna take a while to kick in, and libs don't cede power easily--especially the queens among the clergy--but this sort of news should be seen for what it is...a desperate, panicked attempt to thwart a massive revival in traditional Catholicism.
New wine always needs a new wine sack....thought will have to be given by these “newly energized” populations as to why the system became corrupt so that reforms can be initiated. They can expect blowback!
Anyone who attends Mass in Paris can see how they still have very holy nuns and priests serving as well as good parishioners. I’m not surprised the Pope would move against all of them.
It looks like the church respects individual rights and believes in due process, and would never use its power to destroy those who don’t parrot the official party line. Just like with the FBI.

Oshka: You noted the gift of “boxed wine”. Call me ignorant, but I was unaware that Europeans had accepted boxed wine. Can you clarify?
Thank you, Claud. I read articles like this and hear a little voice saying, "The final death throes of Modernism." It will join its proponents in the grave.
I pray the little voice is right.
It isn’t boxed wine like you would see in the USA with the fancy little pull out spout. It is inexpensive wine that is in the same type of cartons Europeans package their non refrigerated milk in. The red wine the nuns picked out was 89 cents per liter and they use it for cooking.
Eastern Orthodoxy is next. But they can all go down feeling superior to American "rednecks" who believe the events of Genesis 1-11 actually happened.
Soon American "rednecks" will be all that's left.
This too shall pass. We have the word of our Lord on it. : )
Thanks; added to my files.
the vatican should mind their own business and clean out their filthy, corrupt house first
