So it tends to skew the statistics. I get the impression that an atheist from an Evangelical family will just be an atheist. That's it. They'd never call themselves Evangelicals. But no matter what you believe--- everything, anything or nothing -- the ex-Catholics and ex-Jews will still be there "identifying" as Catholic and Jews and messing up the Catholic and Jewish statistics.

There is a huge crisis in of faith in the world (or lack of it).
Something else sinister is filling that void. The only thing IMHO that is keeping the world from seeing catastrophe right now is those millions of faithful you mention. The Lord won’t judge His people with the wicked.

Most American Jews and many Jews since the "enlightenment" have internalized the old anti-Semitic chrstian stereotype (and I'm referring to the old one, not how chrstians think today, especially American Fundamentalist Protestants) that their sole role in the world is to be irreverent, free-thinking, subversive, iconoclastic skeptics in a world filled with pious, simple, faithful, believing chrstians. This is it. The entire non-Orthodox "leadership" is fraudulent (since the authentic rabbinate are always the leaders in each generation). They really think that. They reject everything in the Torah and everything in the Hebrew Bible in order to be the "Black Rebel Motorcycle Club" of chrstendom.
"Mainstream" Jews have been known to scream at Orthodox Jews and tell them they're "not really Jewish." I had an online friend who, on quoting the Torah against homosexuality, was called a "Fundamentalist chrstian(!)." That's how bad it is.
In a world that formerly contained belief in exclusive religious truth (though, granted, no one agreed on just what it was) liberal Jews see the Jewish mission as replacing that outdated concept with total religious subjectivism, since we can allegedly "no longer afford" to believe simply as our ancestors once did. They really believe this. They define themselves by it. They're literally sick.
Until relatively recently societies criminalized the denial of their most fundamental beliefs. Now thanks to liberal Jews everyone is criminalizing denial of various genocides. In most of the western world denial of Churban 'Europa" (but not of G-d, Torah, or anything else) is now against the law, and the lesson we're supposed to learn is that "people who actually believe that stuff go around killing each other, so let's stop." Now there's talk of outlawing the denial of the Armenian genocide and the Holodomor. Isn't this just a little bit . . . strange?
Liberal Jews believe that Churban 'Europa' (the Sho'ah) is the central event of Jewish and world history. It has superseded every previous belief and nullified the Torah and every traditional religious belief out there. I suspect that many of these liberal "leaders" don't even believe the Babylonians and Romans destroyed a Temple in Jerusalem, much less that G-d spoke at Sinai or that the Israelites were really slaves in Egypt. This is why the number one holiday for American Jews is the minor festival of Chanukkah, which is celebrated by liberal Jews as the anniversary of Thomas Jefferson receiving the Bill of Rights on Mt. Rushmore.
These deluded people actually are trying to create a new, worldwide secular ethical system on Auschwitz--on the graves of slaughtered Jews. What kind of world would be based on Auschwitz???
How many people recall that Judaism in its original and quintessential form is not a neighborhood religion but a Theocratic State where rejection of HaShem and Torah are forbidden? That long before the Jews became the people who died to set the human race free of religious objectivism they were exterminating the Seven Nations of Canaan because G-d told them to? Nobody, right? I suppose Joshua was a Southern Baptist or a medieval Catholic crusader who just happened to show up in a time machine.
This is the great disease of the past two hundred years: the idea of Jewishness defined solely by "enlightenment" values. It's disgusting, and of all people on earth it probably disgusts me the most, because since I have been six years old I have been dedicated to those ancient warriors of G-d. To replace that with a mission to secularize the world is an obscenity, but ironically this whole idea comes from the chrstianity they hate so much and is shared with anti-Semites who say the exact same thing.
Some time back I saw a video on YouTube of an evolutionist answering a rabbi's objections to that doctrine. He began with the words "I thought Jewish people didn't believe in G-d."

Here's a sincere answer: a Jew is anyone either born to a Jewish mother or who has converted to Judaism Halakhically according to Orthodox Jewish law.

Agreed we have a problem. Removing sorozNazi and his evil scions from all of their seditious activities imho would go a long ways towards solving our problem. Then there are a few more evil billionaires and so forth. I think the good Lord looks whether a nation’s people are trying to Drain their swamps of evil alligators —or not.
Why shouldn’t Jews reject their religion? Where was God when they needed Him? Nowhere. Their culture was annihilated by the devil without God lifting a finger to help.

The word you are looking for is “tribe” with all its religious and socials aspects.
One is Jewish if one’s mother is Jewish. It’s not a voluntary status. (One is also Jewish if one converts, and I’ve found as a lifetime of being a Jewish Israeli is that Jewish converts, being voluntary adherents, are overwhelmingly more seriously Jewish than those born Jewish.)
The social aspects of being Jewish are as profound as the religious, in that they were designed by G-d to make us a people apart, whether we like it or not.
Some born-Jewish people don’t adhere to the religious aspects of the Tribe.
Some do.
What percent support homosexuality and abortion?
Indeed, a huge majority of Israeli population is secular (orthodox and muslims excepted).
The more interesting question would be how many American jews are antizionist or support the Palestinian party line. I bet that would be single digits outside of Bezerkly.
