Cardinal Zen to Pope on China: 'You're Putting Wolves Before Your Flock,' Will 'Make a Massacre'

Cardinal Joseph Zen, who has defended the real, underground Catholic Church in Communist China for decades, said Pope Francis's plan to unify the real church with the government-run church -- the Catholic Patriotic Association (CPA) -- for diplomatic reasons, would result in "putting wolves" before "the flock" and would lead to a "massacre" of the faithful Catholics.

The remarks of Cardinal Zen, 86, were reported in the Wall Street Journal on Feb. 14.

In Communist China there are two Catholic churches: the real one, which went underground after the Marxist dictator Mao Zedong seized contol in 1949-50, and the government-run CPA, established in 1957 to lure the faithful away from the true church. As part of its plan, the CPA seized all the property of the Roman Catholic Church in China. It also appointed its own bishops, in violation of Church teaching. The CPA bishops do not profess loyalty to the Pope and the Magesterium, which means they are schismatic.

Further, neither the CPA bishops nor priests adhere to Catholic teaching on topics such as life, abortion, contraception, and euthanasia. As a result, they preach heresy. They are not Catholic. The Cardinal Kung Foundation states, "The Patriotic Association, although calling itself Catholic, is not Catholic because it is not in communion with the Pope, the successor of Peter."

"None of the Vicars of Christ [Popes] for the last 60 years has ever recognized the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association as a part of the Roman Catholic Universal Church," said the Foundation.

I agree it is foolish to betray the genuine followers.

But the Jesuit Pope can only see things from the Left side of life. Unfortunate.

from article:

Cardinal Zen stressed that the Communist regime has never changed its policy and this policy is one of “total control of religion.”

In a statement on Feb. 14, Cardinal Zen said “the Communists want to enslave the Church” in China. Ceding authority to the CPA will lead to further persecution, he said, and is the equivalent of “rewarding traitors” and “castigating the faithful.”

For faithful Catholics, said the cardinal, “Our suffering at the creation of a schismatic church by others [in Rome] may be inevitable, but we cannot assist in its creation.”

Franciscus has (for his own personal objectives) played his politics, understanding that his capitulation will inevitably lead to persecution, imprisonment, torture, and martyrdom of his most vulnerable flock. For a year or longer I was 'on the fence', if you know what I mean - now, as each day passes I get closer and closer to declaring myself a sedevacantist! I wish I could, but never will. I believe this is true: We have only one True Church. Instituted by Jesus Christ, our Lord, for all eternity. PS. I view these shenanigans from Rome as a sort of test of my loyalty...

The current Pope was installed by the same group that gave us the Clintons, Bushes and Obama. this group seeks to destroy anything good and control everything.

Your assessment is too benign. Pope Francis is is, in my opinion, an atheist. Read his exhortations on Ash Wednesday. Did they seem to reflect the beliefs of a genuine Catholic, who knows he is both the steward of Christ’s Church and a mere handful of years away from his own death?

We have enough divisions among Christians, I try not to make them worse. But it is clear Pope Francis is not what is expected.

You may know more of that than I do. I'm not close to the inter-working of Catholicism.

Of. Course this is true
Commies cannot have the true savior. The freer of souls. The source to all eternity. Around
Neither can islamonazis. They’re terrified of Christ and his love
Or love at all for that matter
You cannot love and hate simultaneously

Absolutely correct.

Old battle:

Good vs Evil
Light vs Dark
Truth vs Lies
Freedom vs Slavery
Kindness vs Cruelty
Life vs Death

I’m trying to be good for Lent, but I just had to say that your attitude toward our present trouble (a man named Francis), is not only refreshing but also a good example of just how to get through these years.

We all know that our Church has weathered many storms, but we survived by acknowledging the basic tenets that Catholics hold in faith are to be held dear. You have said it nicely and I congratulate you.

This, too, shall pass.

Remember in the secular part of our lives, we survived eight years of Obama.

Cardinal Zen is a living saint. Let’s pray he will not become a martyr. This is pope’s most daring and horrifying action against the true faith!

,p>Francis comes out of the context of an authoritarian fascist government in Argentina. He is foolish and naive, as are so many Jesuits, and does not know the difference between fascism and the free market liberal democratic form of government. He just is ignorant, and has bad advisors because he was indoctrinated by Marxism rather than the Gospel..

So we will persevere and outlast this bad choice.
