Your assessment is too benign. Pope Francis is is, in my opinion, an atheist. Read his exhortations on Ash Wednesday. Did they seem to reflect the beliefs of a genuine Catholic, who knows he is both the steward of Christ’s Church and a mere handful of years away from his own death?

We have enough divisions among Christians, I try not to make them worse. But it is clear Pope Francis is not what is expected.
You may know more of that than I do. I'm not close to the inter-working of Catholicism.

He is foolish and naive, as are so many Jesuits, and does not know the difference between fascism and the free market liberal democratic form of government. He just is ignorant, and has bad advisors because he was indoctrinated by Marxism rather than the Gospel..
So we will persevere and outlast this bad choice.
