Brave woman. God must be truly proud of her.
It is a touching story, a sacrifice on behalf of the child.
People won’t be able to care about children like that till they care about God. This is a witness-challenged age.
This isn’t even a Double Effect case.
This woman had no choice. She was being pressured to murder her baby, not just being offered a legitimate treatment that would endanger her baby.
Thanks so much for posting.
At the end of this difficult news day it’s good to be reminded that unconditional love is alive and well and all around us.
Prayers for this family.
There’s no love greater than to give your life for another.
Jesus is sending us such a powerful message. God love this beautiful family.
St. Gianna Beretta Molla, pray for this woman, her baby, and her family.
>A wife and mother of five is choosing to forgo cancer treatment so that her sixth child, yet to be born, may live.
A husband and five children will be without a lover and Mother but a yet to be born human will take her place. It all makes perfect sense.
Some may argue refusing medical treatment is not suicide. Others may differ. We have no say in the matter...as it should be.
Bless her, her husband and the baby.
I know a woman who did the same thing. There are many truly selfless women out there. When I read some of the hateful diatribes on GR sometimes I wince inside.
Heavenly Father, We praise Your Holy Name. You are the True Physician and we ask for Your healing touch on this lady. We pray for hope and a future with her baby. Comfort the family and give them all strength. May their story be a testament around the world. We pray in the Name of Jesus for answered prayer, Amen
Thank you for posting this ray of sunshine in these dark days.
John 15:13
These are truly the type of cases where the “life of the mother” is actually a medically legitimate reason for ending an unborn baby’s life.
Also, a practical reason, to preserve the mother for the sake of her five already born children.
But as for medical and practical: No one could say if the treatment would save the mother a couple years down the road anyway, or if she would be left able to raise her children.
But if the treatment spared the mother, and everyone could say this with certainty, would she be able to live with herself? She’d always cry over her baby and wonder what if. Inconsolable for all her days, most likely.
That’s a far worse sentence than death. Her choice is wise.
God bless her and heal her.
