Ten reasons millennials are backing away from God and Christianity
foxnews ^ | April 30, 2017 | Dr. Alex McFarland

College-aged millennials today are far more likely than the general population to be religiously unaffiliated. This is true when they are compared to previous generations as well.

In fact, the Pew Research Center documents that millennials are the least outwardly religious American generation, where “one in four are unaffiliated with any religion, far more than the share of older adults when they were ages 18 to 29.”

Just over 60 percent of millennials say that Christianity is “judgmental,” and 64 percent say that “anti-gay” best describes most churches today.

In ministry circles, it has long been reported that of youth raised in homes that were to some degree “Christian,” roughly three-quarters will jettison that faith after high school. Just under half of this number will return to some level of church involvement in their late 20s or early 30s.

The leftist indoctrination begins early and teachers have kids for more hours than parents.

Cuz churches are largely feminized:

services are for women and Jesus is their boyfriend.

My observation is that those who do affiliate with a church of their choice are more active and more involved than older church members, many of whom simply identify with the church they grew up in but don't attend much, or participate in ministries.

Pretty much. We are in the midst of a church split because the new pastor was discovered to have been plagiarizing his sunday sermons wholesale, forged credentials, fake degree, etc.

The elders won’t dismiss him; say we must forgive him, etc.

Apostasy is the fruit of relativism.

The Truth conflicts with the gay indoctrination they’ve received from our leftist media and educational establishments.

You can believe in God but not in a religion. Religion is an organization of men and always carries political baggage with it.

Just look at the Pilgrims or the Maccabees.

Because they were raised in "a home that was to some degree Christian."

If you drop your kids off for Sunday School and are actually in church only for Christmas and Easter then it is highly likely your kids will not be Christian.

Go with them to church.

Make their first book one of Bible stories rather than, "Good Night Moon".

Go with them to church.

Listen to Christian music rather than "Baby Rap".

Go with them to church.

Have family devotions every night.

Go with them to church.

What you do, they do. What you permit they will take one step further.

If you give your kids to unbelievers for 16 years to be educated, and give them over to unbelievers for the same period of time to be entertained and informed, then really its a crap-shoot what comes out the other end.

Christians have abdicated the infrastructure of the war of ideas. They are taking it hard on the nose as a result.

I’m glad someone agrees with me. The decline of main line denominations continues as more women become pastors, more church councils are controlled by women and more and more deacons are women. Church services and sermons are predominately based on “feelings” instead of biblically based sound theology. Sundays have become a lovefest and feel-good sessions instead of worship.

I'm guessing the parents weren't regular church attendees, let kids play soccer, baseball, gymnastics, etc. instead of church and quite possibly are not believers themselves and see no correlation between regular church/Sundy School attendance vs sports activities and a strong faith.

Finally, God created everything and His design and creation does not include "alternative" for man and woman regarding creating babies nor for human sexual interactions.

Man himself has attempted to become Gods and determined he knows better than God!

God will have none of it and that's what people hate - God does know best and man can refuse to obey but God gets the Last Word

The real reason is the Leadership in the Christian Community is no different than political leadership. Selfish, self centered and egotistical. It hurts to say this but it is true.God forgive us.

There is no God in a meaningful sense if that God is not a Lawgiver. Politics is the implementation of laws by means other than immediate brute force.

The Boomer generation failed their children and grandchildren.

Proverbs 22:6
Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.

Philippians 4:8
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Yep. Feminization of any institution makes it unappealing to men. Well, manly men anyway. It’s happening at colleges and universities, where women now outnumber men. Thank heaven it hasn’t (yet?) happened to the military. Young men continue to be drawn to that life, bless their hearts.

This battle was lost in the 19th Century, when Protestants, by and large (conservative Lutherans and Reformed believers as exceptions), let the state take over public education. Clergy and lay leaders believed that local control of public schools would not change, and that a sort of pan-Protestant worldview would be the basis for education. They were wrong on both counts. The irreligious character of many Millennials is merely the end result of Christians relegating primary and secondary education to government. Religious affiliation has been on a downward trend for a very long time.
