I dunno, but I wish this guy would retire.

A better pope than him has already done that.

It is really no pressure at all. Let it all fall on God. You eleven the Bible and the Bible is clear.

Pope under pressure???

He has to be pressured to reaffirm what has been the cornerstone of Catholic belief for 2000 years?

How far and how quickly things have fallen. He has fundamentally transformed the church faster than Obama has transformed the US.

I think people are kidding themselves. I don’t believe Pope Francis feels any pressure at all.

He’s coming here to shake hands and pose with obama, the guy who voted multiple times for post abortion infanticide of born alive unwanted babies

If Satan wanted to fight global warming, I guess this pope would meet him to discuss shared values

He is SUCH a moral letdown

He will -- he'll affirm that traditional marriage should be open to any and all couples, who should have abortion available, but not guns, and get jobs closer to home so they can walk to work in order to fight global warming. Thanks Biggirl.

500,000/1,000,000,000 = .0005. That’s pretty weak from the one true church. So .9995 is OK with it?

Yeah I don’t accept the premise of the headline. “Urge him” sounds like he can redefine the teaching, and we are pleading with him not to.

No.

He can’t redefine it no matter what. He simply does not have that option. It’s not in his job description.

Should he, however, deign to *pretend* he can redefine it, then he should be unceremoniously shown the door. Darned if I know how that can be done, but that’s the only solution.

I look at him stepping down at the age of 80. He said his time as Pope will be short. I do not doubt it.

I must admit I am confused about the issues with homosexual marriage.

I don’t see why, even with the Supreme Court ruling on marriage, how it follows that churches should change their definition of marriage.

Marriage is now any two people in our civil laws. But there is no need for churches to change doctrine because of what judges have imposed in our civil laws on the subject of marriage.

What am I missing?

That this even has to be asked for is the problem.

What % of Catholics do you think have even heard about the petition? What % of Catholics even have the internet available? Do you think Catholics who don’t have the internet are more or less likely to support actual marriage than those that do have it?

Freegards

Do you really think they sent a survey out to 1B Catholics, and only half a million said the pope should do this?

Caesar can enact any law it wishes

The command still stands
Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's
Render unto God that which is God's

The illusion is that Caesar owns anything
Or has any Power at all that is not derivative upon God
