Another Tozer ping
And poor Stanford University has hired a Dean of Religious Life who ,contrary to Peter’s sermon from Solomon’s Porch-Acts 3:verses 12-26 ) believes the church ought not try to convert—ought not be so churchy. . I prefer reading and hearing men who speak and reflect what is written in holy Scriptures.
I’m a tell it like it is, no pretense kind of person myself.
People need to hear the truth about God and that’s found in one place.
Scripture.
Amen! is right.
“People need to hear the truth about God and thats found in one place. Scripture.”
Truth. Scripture just says it all better. There one can find true conviction, correction and chastisement from GOD...and all the tender love one could ever desire from the same God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Just what is your issue?
This is the second thread you’ve done this on.
You never answered it when I asked on the other thread and yet you’ve just done it again.
Can you have the integrity to answer?
On the site the topics all speak as though he likes the modern world.
I don’t understand what that has to do with my post to metmom.
Help?
Oh, now I see...the link to the website of the Tozer piece.
No comment on that, not of interest to me. I’m not an expert on Tozer either! I do stand by my comment re:Scripture. Bless you today, Salvation. I hope your 2015 is fruitful in Him.
How ironic.
It’s OK for you to come and crash Catholic threads? But how dare a Catholic point out something on your prot thread?
Irony personified?
My mistake, sorry.
Very good! Yes, I agree that we today are lost in a shallow worship that we think pleases God, but probably only pleases ourselves. Not that worship as a congregation is wrong. It’s not. However, when that is all you desire...a great worship service, then much is lost in the personal relationship. We need a revival that draws us to God in a way we’ve never experienced...hopefully before we have the experience of God’s judgment on our nation.
And yet, here you are....
On a computer posting stuff on an internet forum.
Hypocrisy much?
Show me when the last time I crashed a Catholic caucus thread was.
And this is not a caucus thread.
My objection is not to you being on here.
You were making vague general statements about something as if everyone should know what you meant.
If you have an issue with the guy on the link you posted, then state what it is up front. Do not hedge around.
And I fail to see what that has to do with the topic of the thread anyway.
Did you read Tozer’s piece? Would you care to comment on it?
We have become the Laodicean church.
Revelation 3:14-22 And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation.
I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
Took me a few minutes, but after going to your link above I see you are referring to the site in which this sermon was obtained for posting/linking. However, Tozer in no way was 'liking the modern world.' If you see that in his sermon above or the other one posted, then please show us.
However, you did point out that anyone can and will post or link works of others available by distribution rights or lack thereof on the internet. For example, if Joel Osteen posted a sermon from Pope Francis I on his website, the discerning eye would note that in no way was the Vatican endorsing Joel Osteen. For example, perhaps a devout Roman Catholic conducts a basic Google search for "Pope Francis on Climate Change" and the first hit is Joel Osteen's website. Then they post it here linking the Osteen site. On further review maybe they should have gone to the Vatican site instead or here on FR.
So, IMO, your point on the web source of the article is valid but does not represent the views of the deceased author. One only needs to read the sermon to figure that one out. When the midnight Mass from St. Peter's in the Vatican is televised each year, do people really think the Pope endorses the programming before and after the televised Mass? Of course not, what does the Vatican have to do with "The Family Guy" or "David Letterman?"
Actually, what I’m posting is from his book, The Pursuit of God.
It wasn’t taken from a sermon site.
