CLAREMONT (CBSLA.com) — A local church nativity scene depicts a homeless Virgin Mary at a bus stop with a newborn Baby Jesus swaddled in burlap.
The theme for this year’s display at Claremont United Methodist Church on Foothill Boulevard is “Commercialism and the Oppressed.”
Church leaders say the eyes of God are always watching and people should reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.
“We want to draw attention to those people who are on the margins who Jesus would be standing with today,” said Pamela Bunce of Claremont United Methodist Church.
The Southland church is known for its design of alternative, thought-provoking pieces of art during the holidays.

No both of them were travelling to Bethlehem to be counted for a census intended to tax all the people. Since they were not home they were homeless. So it is clear that

Freakin’ idiots. Mary was not homeless. Joseph had a house built for her in Nazareth-—it was Jewish culture that you did that BEFORE you got married. They were in Bethlehem because of GUBMENT EDICTS and taxes and he forgot to make a reservation at Holiday Inn Express.
Y'all realize that "Baby Jesus" is all grown up now and He is reigning as King and High Priest at the right hand of God and His Father, in Heaven - right? The next time we see Him it will be the Revelation 1 version: dressed in white, legs and feet that sparkle like brass, and with flaming eyes of fire. The Apostle John fainted at his appearance.
I don't think the 'local church' should focus so much about coveting other people's wealth, but rather getting right with the King before He returns.
Nonsense. Mary and Joseph were Jewish settlers attempting to register in a Palestinian city which they insisted on referring to as the City of David, in contravention of the
