A lovely scene is before us: the last being first, the humble one being exalted by her Savior, her Son.

Well, THIS sure has to be tradition, because the bible records no such EXALTATION.

This is something that Rome has created.

Every storefront has the "true" Gospel".

Every pope has been handpicked by GOD.

I consider protestant Christians to be my brothers and sisters in Christ. But the anti-Catholic nastiness on this thread does not come across as very Christian.

The more that RCC members post on FR, the less I am sure we are all born-again (as Jesus Himself said we must be) Christians. Males and females, definitely; brothers and sisters in Christ, no.

One reason of many: the meaning given for the RCC Eucharist is different from the meaning Jesus gave for what is called The Lord's Supper, a frequent, introspective, prayerful remembrance of Him.

The Blessed Mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ, True God and True Man, was human.

Aye, laddie; she was.

Rome says:

The Blessed Mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ, True God and True Man, was A SINLESS human.

If I was a Catholic; I'd WORRY about this claim!!

It would be a mortal sin (a violation of the First Commandment) for a Catholic to claim otherwise.

Every pope has been handpicked by GOD.

Actually, last I heard, God had nothing to do with the selection of the pope.

And just wow, can I believe that.

You, obviously, are very tenderhearted.

We play REALLY rough on THIS playground.

If you wish to remain unscathed, get some protection.

If you deside to stay; watch and learn from your fellow Catholics here.

Say what they say, and you'll never have to worry that even a fleck of nastiness will ever escape YOUR lips (fingers, I guess).

You know what? As a protestant, I consider Catholic Christians to be my brothers and sisters in Christ; too.

But they sure are carrying a LOT of extra baggage along with them.

We call her Blessed.

She prophesied that we would.

You call her a LOT more than that!

Wesleyans getting more ecumenically liberal lately? That would be news to my wife.

"A lovely scene is before us: the last being first, the humble one being exalted by her Savior, her Son."

Evidently, as much as Catholics would like to honor Mary, the fact remains that she required, as you noted, a Savior...and thus was simply a human sinner like the rest of us. This unavoidable conclusion makes veneration a tragic, overworked error on Rome's part. Sorry.

We HAVE no minds.

We merely aRE REPEATING WHAT (wanna buy a CAPSLOCK key?) our heavily laden Catholic Brothers are saying.

Some seem to think that this new one they’ve gotten is of the latter category.

Some seem to think ...

Dang!

I've promised myself NOT to be my own straightman...

We Prots get lumped into the vast mass of 'every man his own pope' of Protestantism.

It seems to me that Catholics are allowed to be be...

...every man(woman) their own ANTI-pope!

She's being treated as Kecharitomene.

Mary, but not the Christian martyr Stephen, also "full of grace".

“I suspected a lapsed Catholic. I’ll lite a candle for you at Mass. God bless you.”

Not a lapsed Catholic. A fulfilled Christian!

Have you considered that lighting a candle is a pagan practice? Do you really believe the candle has any spiritual value?

“God bless you.”

God bless you NKP!

Well, I don't know about that, but there IS a local church who is MUCH more diverse.

They've invited a mostly black congregation to worship, using the same facilities, and also a Hispanic one that meets in the fellowship hall as well.

They says there's no need to let the buildings set empty when the Lord's work can be getting done.

The mostly white original congregation is getting older, the demographics of the neighborhood is changing and these other worship teams can reach people that they would not be able to reach.
