Yes. Do we hold a grudge about this (all kidding aside in my previous post): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massacre_of_the_Latins

The Greek Orthodox Church is like women. They remember that time you went to Vegas in 1972 even though you weren’t dating them at the time and throw it up at you in every argument. (And no, I am not speaking from a personal experience). The Roman Church is like men: rational. The Roman Church forgives what happened in the past - especially when it has ZERO to do with the real issues at hand.

And if anyone here is offended by my “The-Eastern-Orthodox-are-Like-Chicks-Analogy” believe me I won’t lose a minute of sleep over your discomfort.

So you're holding a grudge about the Massacre of the Latins in 1189, but it's not like the Eastern Orthodox grudges, because their grudges are like chicks but your 825 year old grudge is like a rational man.

And it's certainly nothing like the grudge any Cathars might hold against the Church for their total extermination in 1209, because they were heretics, and therefore their lives were already voluntarily and freely forfeit before they were chopped into pieces.

Monty Python couldn't do better.

Pope Francis couldn't scare the Devil away. He'd probably bow and ask for a blessing.

Unless he found out he was a traditionalist.

No, I don’t hold a grudge. I forgive you for not reading the other related post in the thread.

Since there are no Cathars and have not been since before 1400 grudges are pretty much out of the question.

“Monty Python couldn’t do better.”

Better than your post? In every episode. They were intentionally funny.

As a lifelong member of the LCMS I find that very hard to believe or swallow. Most of the doctrinal issues that caused the initial split with Rome still exist and can’t be glossed over. I don’t know of any in my local congregation that would welcome any sort of union with Rome unless and until those issues are settled.

M'kay.

Indeed, that was my point.

I've read about people who find references to extermination amusing. But those books weren't in the religion section of the library.

That’s why the LCMS has not told its membership about this. Be not afraid.

If it happens the LCMS will cease to exist. I’m not afraid. I have Christ on my side and will fearlessly stand for truth. A good lesson from Luther

This all gets fuzzy because there is no centralized Lutheran church.

But there is 'centralized' Lutheran doctrine in the Bible and the Book of Concord. To the extent one adheres to them, is the extent they are Lutherans.

Not the first time you have asserted this without proof.

My son is in seminary in St Louis and has heard nothing. True or not (and I doubt it is) the membership of the LCMS would never stand for it.

More Rome baloney, elca maybe. Considering the last bogus move on Justification that Rome 'agreed' to with the lib Lutherans, it is obvious that the moves of Rome haven't changed much from the Reformation. Except for the burnings and such, the issues with Rome are the same.

So LCMS leadership hasn't told its membership about secret meetings at the Vatican because Mom MD finds it hard to believe? She really has a lot of power.

...”evangelical pastors at a Catholic-Pentecostal rally in 2006, Cardinal Bergoglio met with them”......

Sounds like 'Global' Christianity is poised to really take root and move along rapidly by Pope Francis and the Evangelicals as well..... though we've been watching it grow for some time now.

Very interesting you posted this reference Daniell, it ties in nicely with my study and research today on how deception is rapidly invading the churches which gives opportunity for the RCC to spew it's Ecumenical Drive even more. I watched Copeland as this went down with the Bishop....it was chilling to see....and Francis's video to them.

The enemy of the church is no longer just the cults...but worse... those within the church just as HE said it would be. ...”...of your own selves will come in not sparing the flock.”.....”For the time will come where they will not endure sound doctrine”

These signs and wonders movements seem to be very much 'the catalyst' which are ven in the catholic churches now...from the Emergent Movement to the Convergence Movement, along with the “old” Charismatic and Pentalcostal Movements....all joining in the delusion of these signs and wonders though their name might differ it remains just that.

I read 'the catholic council' statement from 1993 .....that this unity requires visible communion of 'all' Christians and 'the ultimate goal' of the catholic ecumenical Movement...that it is implicit in the concern for this unity that catholics should be concerned to deepen the relations both with Eastern Christians and Western Christian communities issuing 'from the Reformation'.

Here they are....perhaps this will convince you what's really going down in this push for "Global" Christianity...and the Pope appears to be leading the charge...handed down from the prior Pope.

The Pope has increasingly been interacting with a number of notable Protestants, including Geoff Tunnicliffe and Brian Stiller of the World Evangelical Alliance, pastor Joel Osteen, televangelists Kenneth Copeland and James Robison, members of the Green family (founders of Hobby Lobby), and Westmont College president Gayle Beebe.

“We are brothers,” ...Francis told a gathering of Pentecostal leaders at a Copeland conference.

Jorge Mario Bergolgio and Matteo Calisi with Pope Francis
