For the last 700 years, it has been the main place of Christian worship in the Palace of Westminster, aside from brief periods as a wine cellar and a stable for Oliver Cromwells horses.
But now, it seems, the Government has a new role in mind for the chapel of St Mary Undercroft, which is nestled in a crypt beneath Parliament.
Ministers are considering changing the historic Anglican chapel into a multi-faith prayer room so that it can be used to conduct same-sex weddings.
Under the gay marriage legislation currently passing through Parliament, the chapel will not be able to offer such ceremonies, because the Church of England is to be exempt from the new law.
To get round this and to ensure same sex marriages can be held there, plans have been introduced to convert the room into a multi-faith area.
This would allow gay couples to be wed by ministers from religious denominations such as Quakers and Liberal Jews who have indicated they will perform the ceremonies.

Ditto. A thousand times over.
Nothing like make-believe priests presiding over make-believe marriages to give things that real authentic feeling. They’d be better off turning the place back into horse stables.
Sounds like the Abomination of Desolation to me.

We are just seeing a sliver of time. It will come. OT covered many many years.

May the nation be swallowed by the sea.
England has been gone for some time. Sadder is the world for that.
Sorry, homosexuals, your "marriage" will only be a sham, no matter what five fallible (or blackmailed) supremes say.
A step down from being a stable.
