Beck's Bogus Beliefs

March 2011

by T. A. McMahon

"Glenn Beck, the television and radio talk show host who is best known for his conservative political views, isn't someone whom we would normally address in our newsletter. Our concerns are usually directed at individuals, programs, or organizations that promote spiritual or theological views contrary to the Word of God. Beck, of late, seems to be making himself at home in that realm, and he's attracting many who call themselves Bible-believing Christians. ...

First of all, Glenn Beck is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He may refer to himself as a Christian, but he's certainly not a biblical Christian. The distinction is as wide as hell is from heaven: "Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God" (2 John:9). Mormon doctrine is "another gospel" that exalts "another Jesus." Both false beliefs came out of the deceived and deceiving mind of Joseph Smith. Secondly, "our country" doesn't have "Christian roots," even though some are claiming that our founding fathers were true Christians. Many were not biblical Christians but Christians in name only, who followed the faith of Deism, Masonry, and the philosophy of the Enlightenment. Any early influence in America's history of a biblical nature very likely came from the Pilgrims and the Puritans...."

I never ceased to be amazed by the pure hate displayed by some so-called Christians, (such as the author of this idiotic hit piece,) a religion that commands us to love one another, as Jesus did, and does in His everlasting life.

Likewise...

I never ceased to be amazed by the pure ignorance displayed by some CONSERVATIVES, (such as the author of this reply,) a political philosphy that commands us to adhere to the laws of our Founding Fathers.

THEY, at least, were well versed in what the BIBLE instructs on what to do when faced with a blasphemous claim such as MORMONism.

He believes that Jesus Christ was the son of God, that he is the Saviour of man put on this earth to pay for our sins.
That’s good enough for me.

It may be; but that is NOT the ONLY thing that MORMONs 'believe'.

Stay in these threads and you'll learn what some of those 'beliefs' are.

. Quite the contrary, those who constantly carp at other consrvatives, even in a “RELIGION” forum, seem to be offending the Biblical injunction to remove the plank in your own eye.

Could you explain to us the 'Biblical injunction' to be followed when dealing with FALSE TEACHINGS?

What do Romney and Beck have to do with eachother, besides Mormonism?

Well; one is a CONSERVATIVE and the one is too not.

Sure.

I probably should have done that in the first place.

Here is an article regarding Catholics and Mormons and the difference on doctrinal belief of “Baptism for the Dead”.

Note, the Catholic church nor any other recognizes “Baptism for the Dead” as practiced by LDS.

Not that it matters, the LDS church spokesman, Mike Otterson, was all to happy to explain the LDS position:

“We don’t have an issue with the fact that the Catholic Church doesn’t recognize our baptisms, because we don’t recognize theirs,”

This is the Catholic view point:
“This dicastery is bringing this matter to the attention of the various conferences of bishops,” the letter reads. “The congregation requests that the conference notifies each diocesan bishop in order to ensure that such a detrimental practice is not permitted in his territory, due to the confidentiality of the faithful and so as not to cooperate with the erroneous practices of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.”

And again:
As Catholics, we have to make very clear to them their practice of so-called rebaptism is unacceptable from the standpoint of Catholic truth.”

The article is a quick read but you can see the difference in doctrine very quickly

I will get the statements by various faiths to you in a minute.

He believes that Jesus Christ was A son of God... just like Lucifer for example.

Just like the Higher Ups in MORMONism do!

I express gratitude and love for Jesus Christ and His Atonement, for His willingness to leave the realms of the heavens as a God and come to earth as a lowly babe.
.
.
.
My desire is to be worthy to have this everlasting life with Jesus Christ and our Father, and I pray we will all have this same desire and strive to achieve it.

My Christianity is not that frail of a thing that a good-natured, well-motivated, non-threatening Mormon or Baptist or Catholic with a TV program could shake even if he or she tried.

And just WHAT does your 'Missouri Synod Lutheran' leaders have to say about MORMONism?

Colofornian.. Looks like you are not a fan of Roy’s. He is the first one to admit he’s made mistakes in his life. He used to be on XM radio.. I mocked him, too.. Then I actually started Listening to him. He really spoke to me and what I was going through in my life at the time. I don’t agree with him on everything, but man oh man is there ever a lot of painful truth in what he says. Some peoples ego’s can’t handle it. I listen to him once in a while great while now. His ‘Sunday Sessions’ are thought provoking.. Give him a listen sometime..

On the whole, I think Beck is a treasure and will continue to watch and listen. I will never consider Mormonism as a plan of salvation.

And you have summed up what the Berean article stated.

It said NOTHING about Beck's politics.

She was polite but the boys were reticent to answer and so I answered the questions for them, after asking if it was and would they chime if I got it incorrect.
So we had a great conversation and the boys left saying I knew more than they and thanked my for helping with the answers.

Sounds like Elder Defender and Elder Paragon were guests at your place!

“It may be; but that is NOT the ONLY thing that MORMONs ‘believe’”.

True, but compared to the things I’ve listed, the rest is minutia.
