Evangelicals have anti-Catholicism so deep in their DNA they cant even see it. Some/few/many/most Evangelicals have anti-Catholicism so deep in their DNA they cant even see it.
Qualifiers are important. Without a qualifier a statement is considered to be an absolute, and we know that not all Evangelicals are anti-Catholic.

Hey, the Shroud was in what amounted to a privately owned chapel ~ and was literally OWNED by a family of Italian nobles.
It was not, therefore, under the control of the Catholic Church per se ~ and I don't happen to recall the Pope (or several Popes in fact) pushing the question.
All of which is irrelevant. The Shroud turns out to be one of those things visible to Catholics and non-Catholics.
At a minimum it's a photographic negative from the Dark Ages, and that's pretty remarkable all by itself ~ although I think it's a 3D photographic negative from the First Century.

"It is important to note that the Shroud of Turin is a priceless artifact for the entire world, and not just a Catholic relic. It has been under the authority and in the custody of the Roman Catholic Church only since 1983!"
This is actually wrong. The Shroud has been under the
authority of the Catholic Church since its first exposition in 1352. It has been in and out of the church's
custody at various times since then. It has been owned by the church only since the death of its previous owner, the last King of Italy, Umberto II, on March 18, 1983, when the Shroud was bequeathed to the Holy See.
As for the rest of the article, I hold my opinion until I can see some evidence other than a press release.

Great....now they will say that Michaelangelo PAINTED the Shroud!!! Whow! How did I miss that... Suzy, you've created a whole new Genre in Shroud theory books...
It's a fresco that fell off the ceiling... no! It's a drop cloth! The image just miraculously formed from drops of plaster falling from Michelangelo Buonarroti's trowel. Wait! No... it's the cloth covering the scaffolding used to reach the Sistine Chapel ceiling and we now know that Michelangelo was apt to lie naked (he was Gay, you know) on the cloth on the scaffold after a hot day of work admiring his handiwork and the image is really his!!!

DaVinci picked him up in his time machine which he called the Sophia DeLoren. I was reading this thread in a Library... the librarians were not pleased at my laughing out loud for over a minute...
I'm still chuckling...
