FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The Rev. D. James Kennedy, the longtime pastor of Fort Lauderdale's Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, was hospitalized after a heart attack.
He is listed in serious condition.
Church officials said the 76-year-old Kennedy was rushed to a local hospital from his home Thursday evening. They said he is becoming more alert and responsive.
Kennedy has been a prominent leader of the national religious right movement.
His sermons have appeared on TV on his show, The Coral Ridge Hour, for years.
He is one of the most popular religious broadcasters in the country and pastor of one of the nation's first mega-churches.

Prayers for Pastor Kennedy's complete recovery.
What a sorry comment to make, I pray that you will recognize that you are a fool.
You are a sorry excuse for a Christian and a pathetic human being. I pray that God has mercy on you for your monumental ignorance.
He trusts God and Scripture. The "one true Church" (i.e. your "catholic" church) may be fine, but there are many Christians among the Evangelican churches.
You really should think twice about condemning those who love the Lord and who are part of Evangelical (meaning "good news") churches.
FWIW, I spent some time in Latin America, and the "catholic" churches there were viciously anti-Christian, and fanaticaly pro-worship of Mary. Mary was blessed, but she is no "co-mediatrix with Christ." She is dead, and cannot hear prayers. Period. That's a false doctrine introduced by some fallible pope, and a doctrine held by those who think Christ is not sufficient.
Prayers for him I enjoy watching his tv show.
This is from the local paper in Ft Lauderdale:
****Church officials said Friday that Kennedy, 76, was rushed to a local hospital from his home in the affluent Coral Ridge neighborhood. Although they are extremely concerned about his health, they also said Kennedy is becoming more alert and responsive.****
Kennedy was elected Moderator of the 16th General Assembly of the PCA in 1988, 10 years after joining the denomination.
Praying.
Many may not be aware that Kennedy designed the Evangelism Explosion program.
Best wishes for a full recovery to Dr. Kennedy.
I'm so sorry to read this. Prayers to his family. I'm only beginning to enjoy Rev. Kennedy's writings.
