Saint Philomena

Martyred at about age 14 in the early days of the Church.
In 1802 the remains of a young woman were found in the catacomb of Saint Priscilla on the Via Salaria. It was covered by stones, the symbols on which indicated that the body was a martyr named Saint Philomena. The bones were exhumed, cataloged, and effectively forgotten since there was so little known about the person.
In 1805 Canon Francis de Lucia of Mugnano, Italy was in the Treasury of the Rare Collection of Christian Antiquity (Treasury of Relics) in the Vatican. When he reached the relics of Saint Philomena he was suddenly struck with a spiritual joy, and requested that he be allowed to enshrine them in a chapel in Mugnano. After some disagreements, settled by the cure of Canon Francis following prayers to Philomena, he was allowed to transfer the relics to Mugnano. Miracles began to be reported at the shrine including cures of cancer, healing of wounds, and the Miracle of Mugnano in which Venerable Pauline Jaricot was cured a severe heart ailment overnight. Philomena became the only person recognized as a Saint solely on the basis of miraculous intercession as nothing historical was known of her except her name and the evidence of her martyrdom.
There is a saying that "Nothing is denied to Saint Philomena". She has worked many miracles, and been honored by many Popes. Leo XII granted permission for the erection of altars and churches in her honor; Gregory XVI authorized her public veneration, and named her Patroness of the Living Rosary. The cure of Pius IX, while Archbishop of Imola, was attributed to Philomena; in 1849, he named her Patroness of the Children of Mary. Leo XIII approved the Confraternity of Saint Philomena, and raised it to an Archconfraternity. Pius X raised the Archconfraternity to a Universal Archconfraternity, and named Saint John Vianney its Patron. Saint John Vianney himself called Philomena the New Light of the Church Militant. There are people who claim to have received visions from Philomena.

O Saint Germaine, look down from Heaven and intercede for Terri and all other victims of abuse in our world. Beg God's mercy on those who have purposely inflected pain and suffering on Terri, and return Terri to her parents so she will know once again the warmth and protection He will provide through them. Saint Germaine, you who suffered neglect and abuse so patiently, pray for Terri. Amen.
Soon after taking her vows, Teresa became gravely ill, and her condition was aggravated by the inadequate medical help she received; she never fully recovered her health. She began receiving visions, and was examined by Dominicans and Jesuits, including Saint Francis Borgia, who pronounced the visions to be holy and true. She was proclaimed a Doctor of the Church on 27 Sep 1970 by Pope Paul VI.

O gifted visionary, cover Terri with your healing strength. Intercede on her behalf before the foot of our Lord and Savior to bless Terri with a miraculous healing. Inspire those hospice personnel closest to Terri to forestall further aggravation of her illnesses from the starvation forced upon her by those weak in spirit and faith. Ask the Holy Ghost to uplift the moral strength of both President Bush and Governor Bush to protect and defend Terri from those intent on denying her and her family the joy and love they share as children of God. Gregory had the power of healing by laying on of his hands. Often the healing was so powerful that the patient was cured of his illness, and became a fervent convert on the spot.
Saint Gregory of Nyssa writes that the "Wonder-Worker" was the first person known to receive a vision of the Theotokus. The Virgin and Saint John the Baptist appeared to him in a vision, and gave him what became a statement of doctrine on the Trinity.

For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fiber of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favored with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the healing and protection desperately needed for your faithful servant Terri Schindler-Schiavo, whom we entrust to you.

Gave his fortune to the poor, treated them medically, and never charged. Some of his cures were miraculous, being accomplished by prayer, and for this he was denounced to the anti-Christian authorities by other doctors.
At his trial he offered a contest to see whose prayers would cure the incurable - his or their pagan priests. The pagans failed to help the man, a palsied paralytic, but Saint Pantaleon cured the man by mentioning the name Jesus. Many of the witnesses converted. The authorities tried to bribe him into denouncing Christ Jesus as the One True God, but failed. They threatened him; that failed. They followed their threats with torture. When that failed, he was nailed to a tree and beheaded.

Most wonderful Saint, as the Patron of nurses and hospital workers, infuse in those responsible for meeting Terri's needs your compassionate spirit. Bring to the hospice hospitals resemble the inn in Christ's Parable to which the Good Samaritan brought the wounded man saying: "Take care of him and I will repay you for it." Amen.
Married to a physically abusive husband for eighteen years St. Rita entered the religious life, after her husband was murdered by political enemies.
Rita lived 40 years in the convent, spending her time in prayer and charity, and working for peace in the region. She was devoted to the Passion, and in response to a prayer to suffer as Christ, she received a chronic head wound that appeared to have been caused by a crown of thorns, and which bled for 15 years.
Confined to her bed the last four years of her life, eating little more than the Eucharist, teaching and directing the younger sisters. Near the end she had a visitor from her home town who asked if she'd like anything; Rita's only request was a rose from her family's estate. The visitor went to the home, but it being January, knew there was no hope of finding a flower; there, sprouted on an otherwise bare bush, was a single rose blossom.

Please know that Terri Schindler Schiavo fervently needs you to ask Christ Jesus and our Blessed Mother to provide the peace and protection for this devoted woman. Terri's suffering includes intentional physical and mental abuse while she lies helplessly confined to a bed. We pray you will ask the Holy Ghost to heal her, so that she will join with us in praising your divine intercession. We ask for your help for Terri through His Holy Name. Amen.
Saint Jude stood with Mary at the foot of the Cross, and assisted in annointing the body of Jesus. He was the brother of Saint James the Lesser; nephew of Mary and Joseph; blood relative of Jesus Christ. He died a martyr in Rome, beaten to death with a club, then beheaded.

Touch Terri's heart with Your courage and infinite love. Touch the minds of her parents with Your wisdom, that they may always proclaim Your praise. Most loving and Sacred Heart of Jesus, return Terri's health in body and spirit that she may serve You with all her strength for the rest of her life. Touch gently and protectively this life which You have created, now and forever. Amen.

I pray God will raise up a champion for her with the virtue, commitment and willingness to act clearly and resolutely on her behalf that will astound all those complicit in the crimes being committed against her and to the wonder of all others. I pray that Governor Bush will use the authority he has, and will take her into protective custody and let the judges, the pundits and other politicians who will rave at such actions be damned. Let them fight the resulting crisis out at their levle while Terri is kept safe, while she gets a drink of water and the norishment she needs in the loving arms of her parents. Saying he was going to do so, and then not doing it, is worse than never saying it. I cannot believe he does not intend to do so and I pray and wish he would simply act NOW. Time is of the essence, she is dying with every passing hour.
As I said on another thread, it is amazing that Pilate saw to it that the legs of the crucified would be broken,at the behest of the Sanhedrin so there wouldn't be any suffering or dying over the Jewish Passover.
2000 years later we have a government in Florida that doesn't seem too opposed to let a woman suffer and die during the Easter Triduum.
I am hopeful, and prayerful that intercession will take place today.
This injustice just hurts too much. Those who understand the hellacious treatment Terri has withstood, so lonely, for all of these years at the hands of a very bad guardian who was NEVER investigated for his abusive tactics...with every appeal for him to be removed DENIED by judge greer...
I pray that my prayer to our Father can be melded into all prayers for this INNOCENT much loved woman, her family and our nation.
The impotence we all feel to act forcefully in this matter is crushing.
Father, please ease the suffering of your child Teresa Schievo and her family. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus have Mercy on her and us. Blessed Teresa who ministered to the sick and dying, please pray for Terry.

That is why this case, that is why abortion and other similar issues are so important.

If it be Your will Lord, through the intercession of Our Lady, St. Joseph, St. Michael, and all the saints and holy angels save Terri from the enemy.
May any suffering she is going through be offered in reparation against the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and for grace for the conversion of sinners, united with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world.
If it be Your holy will that Terri return to You, grant her the grace of a happy death, and grant comfort to her family.
We ask this through Jesus Christ Our Lord.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL post!!! It really is all known to God what is happening to Terry, He is watching it all and rest assured He will take care of it all in His own time,WOE to those who allow this woman to starve!!! What God has in store for them ,,I shudder..

Absent a Jeb Bush rescue, I pray God Almighty will relieve Terri of the pain and suffering we as a nation have inflected upon her. May God have mercy on us.
Terri and her family are always on my mind. I pray to the trinity and all the saints in heaven to save her.
