Hi all.

Jim nuked this poster, but I decided to put this thread back up for illustrative purposes as to just how patient (and deranged) some of our political opponents are.

You can click on the source link above to see the article posted. It wasn't bad, in and of itself. The comments below, however, show that this poster was a troll. What is interesting to see, however, is some of the other characteristics of this user:

It's also sickening how obvious some people's biases are. It seems that anytime someone reports something that even remotely casts Israelis in a less-than-favourable light, they immediately branded as anti-Semitic. It must be nice to always use the same retort to try to shut everyone up.

Why is it that no one talks about the fact that "The world's best-known and most efficient 'secret' manufacturer of weapons of mass destruction is not Iraq, not even North Korea, but Israel? http://www.indexonline.org/news/20030301_103_sammonds.shtml

Gee, I wonder what their agenda is? Oh sure, it's to protect themselves against those super-powerful Iraqi's huge WMD arsenal. Or the Syrian's nasty scuds. Yep, that's why they 200-300 nuclear weapons.

And of course that isn't enough, so why not hijack, or at the very least influence, U.S. foreign policy?

http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=7609510&BRD=1425&PAG=461&dept_id=154733&rfi=6

I mean, how many other "special interest groups" like the AIPAC can command the attendance of Powell and Rice along with a huge number of senators and congressmen at its recent annual conference? And gee, just what is the purpose and agenda of the AIPAC, given that Powell and Rice were the most high profile attendees at the conference? Could the agenda be somehow related to being pro-Israel?

http://www.sacbee.com/24hour/nation/story/843657p-5926190c.html

And it's really sickening how I'll be undoubtedly branded as anti-Semitic just by pointing out a few obvious facts.

Some people really need lives. Signing up accounts and letting them age for 3 years on an internet forum, to try and troll. Amazing.

"But the gold-plated weapons were believed to have been looted by a member of the U.S. military and were in a shipment bound for a U.S. military base in Fort Stewart, Georgia."

Probably a liberal left-wing conspiracy, right?

You have spent nearly 3 years on this forum, REGISTERED mind you, to post this kind of stuff?

How long have you lurked and read this board and remained silent? I have no problem with all types of views on this board, but this particular post of yours was stupid.

Who ever went around attributing EVERY negative thing to left-wing conspiracies(and people of like-mind can't behave similarly without conspiring with one another?)

Sounds to me like some people did what many throughout history have done--take home some souvenirs. The paintings and gold-plated AKs were Saddam/Ba'athist crap, worth more as memento than wealth to be given to the Iraqis. It wasn't like anyone was smuggling the Mona Lisa, they were smuggling bad fantasy art from Uday's sex lair.

As for soldiers stealing some of that 650 million--you'd be stupid to not at least THINK about it. Sorry, that money could be counterfeit or not, but considering the low pay they get, and you stumble upon THIS MUCH, who will miss a few million except some political bribe recipient?

There was still 650 million, so it's not as if they looted gold reserves.

Here's another article with more detail: "Troops held over looted millions - SIX American soldiers are being questioned over millions of dollars missing from the vast quantities of cash Saddam Hussein’s regime left hidden in a smart Baghdad neighbourhood.

The US Army will not confirm that it has any suspects in custody, but reports from Baghdad describe three soldiers coming across metal boxes stuffed with crisp new dollars and hiding $600,000 (£377,000) in a tree.

A fourth suspect is said to have taken $300,000 from a box that he was supposed to be driving to Baghdad airport and to have hidden it in a cooler and the glove compartment of his lorry. The money came from a hoard of $656 million that was found on Friday in four cottages in an upmarket Baghdad district where Saddam’s elite once lived.

The cash was recovered as soldiers searched the area. But, apparently, those involved did not give up so easily.

On Tuesday, they were being questioned again, with another two men from the same battalion of the 3rd Infantry Division, according to a Los Angeles Times reporter in Baghdad.

Army investigators found three aluminium boxes hidden near by containing $4 million each. They suspect that the same soldiers had planned to come back for those later, the New York Post reported from Baghdad.

The money has been flown to a safe place, US Central Command said.

Another $112 million was found in seven kennels on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, an American television engineer accompanying reporters in Iraq was charged yesterday with smuggling stolen Iraqi treasures and trying to sell them. Benjamin Johnson, a Fox News engineer, was caught in possession of 12 paintings from a palace once occupied by Uday Hussein, bonds and other items found by customs officials at Dulles Airport, Washington.

If this is all they caught, I can't even begin to imagine the shit that has slipped through the crack.

Let's face it. In today's world, everyone is doing everything for themselves. All the moral bullshit that you guys tout around here is worth SHIT.

Yeah, keep your head held high and keep waving those flags! Make us proud, boys!

What's your point? Who can resist the temptation of $100,000 wads of cash all over the place in such a venue? Very few. Are you saying that French soldiers wouldn't have tried to take it? Arab soldiers? Russian, Chinese or African soldiers? PLEASE! The very fact that the U.S. soldiers who tried to take the cash were arrested, and that enormous sums of money are now being safeguarded for the Iraqi people shows how exceptional America is.

I am tremendously proud of all our soldiers.

Oh, yeah- you're a moron.

As long as he does the pole and one wire he is safe. Grab two or one and a ground, toast. Several years ago we had a guy do a monica on a 345KV line at the Dorchester switch yard, crispy critter and toasted chunks, nasty.

He did. Click on the picture for details. According to that webpage he survived, though it's awfully hard to believe.

Is Dan Ch the record-holding sleeper account?

He may have been in a drug induced coma or incarcerated, if so, do those years count?
