This is the third entry of my Left Wing College experience.
This class session focused less on politics and more on the judical system, and knowing the difference between civil and common law.
However there were many political comments thrown in, and I will mention those.
He opened up by saying this was going to be a discussion on ideas. Then he said
"that thank god Clinton only lied about something as small as sex, rather than selling arms to Iran and lying about it"
I piped up by saying
"or selling nuclear secrets to China"
He then went on to ask the class if we knew when the first democracy was, and when no one knew he said
"You guys don't even know when the first democracy was...but somehow you still feel comfortable commenting on things like the war in Iraq. You have no idea! Did you ever say to yourself..maybe I shouldn't be talking about these things?"
In my opinion this is socialism in baby steps. Persuade the public that they are stupid, and they you know whats best for them so they follow like sheep.
We also went over Starry Dosises...which he seems to like very much. He then went on and complained saying that the deficit is always huge during the Republican Adminstrations.
He also said that he finds it strange that conservatives are for states rights over the federal government, but we applauded the Supreme Court decision in 2000 giving Bush the presidency...
"He also said that he trusts people who change their minds more often. He said that conservatives never change their mind, and that he doesn't trust people who never change their mind on things. Liberals he claims are always changing their minds trying to make things better."
He then went on to say that we can never know when life begins. He said "who can define when life begins"
He said that he may think life begins when he master........bates, and that a whole bunch of lives have been wasted. He asked if we should make that a crime?
To which one student piped up...Take me to jail!!
I will be back with more later on as to what he said. I've written down notes.

Good grief! How can you stand it in that class! There was a recent post about the Blacks no longer being the largest minority in the U.S., with a note that one of every four Blacks was aborted in recent years (over 10 million black abortions in the U.S.). Would that instructor be willing to discuss the issue of those wasted lives?
Frankly, your prof has a point here. Very sad commentary on modern education if nobody in the whole class knew about Athens.
Of course, he may have been angling to ambush somebody based on his definition of "democracy." By modern standards, of course, democratic Athens was an extreme imperialist ethnocentric oligarchy.
LOL!
Free Republic thread. Student's mom starts Web site for feedback (great stuff)
"...a Web site called NoIndoctrination.org, on which students can anonymously post complaints of bias by their professors.http://www.noindoctrination.org
Emerson did say "a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds," but not all consistencies are foolish, and not all consistent minds are little.
---If he is tenured he can talk trash all semester and there is nothing you can do about it! But if he is a part timer non tenured kind of guy, complain to the administration about the lack of focus and the waste of your money in class. Get it down on paper so that there is a record in case of retaliation
---Speak up in class. Defend the truth and undermine his arguments at every chance you get. Keep your cool. He cannot - I repeat - cannot penalize you because you have differing opinions. Keep track of any demeaning comments he may make in class. If you have to, record the lecture and keep notes.
Finally, his comment on mas*****tion could be interpreted as sexual harrassment. Note any harrassing incidents and report to the approrpriate office. Use their own stupid laws against them!
