Diplomatic Mariucci has a word for NFL's admission: Bummer

GEORGE BUSH never saw the final vote totals from Florida and said, "Bummer."

The Soviet basketball team members didn't think about how they won their 1972 Olympic gold-medal game over the U.S. and said, "Bummer."

Bill Belichick after the Tuck Game, or Chuck Noll after the Immaculate Reception? Are you kidding?

"We didn't play them today. His ass was ineligible yesterday."

Love it.

The hyenas and hyenettes of the media like it because this makes a great game positively immortal.

Ray has always had a good handle on the true nature of many of his peers.

The only thing missing as icing on this cake would have been SFPD picking up Kerry Collins for a DUI on Market Street after the game - as happened here in Charlotte, when Collins returned with New Orleans to get stomped by the team he whiningly abandoned the year before.

It is not a penalty unless a referee calls it a penalty at the time. Pereira can counsel his charges to call it differently next time, but this time there was no pass interference penalty because it wasn't called.

Bummer

Figures that a gay city would get titters out of a cheap victory.

Sort of like scoring in a bath house, I guess.

Mariucci is a nice enough guy. And I always enjoy hearing his band while eating black bean soup....

Yea and that hand full of jersey that Chike Okeafor has on Rich Seubert looks like HOLDING! (See page 1C in today's USA Today) Never mind if it was catchable or not. The ref had two choices on that one and missed em both.

Referees miss and disagree on call all the time. If the referee doesn't call it during the game there is no infraction.

Bummer.

The Giants could have played defense but chose not to.

I stopped watching when SF made the score 38-22. Even 16 points up, I knew the Giants would find a way to lose. The Giants have no one but themselves to blame for playing one of the most pathetic halves in NFL playoff history.

"The only thing missing as icing on this cake would have been SFPD picking up Kerry Collins for a DUI..."

The only thing the SF secondary couldn't "pick up" was Giant receivers whizzing by them for TD passes. In fact SF couldn't even stop Collins from driving the Giants downfield in a mere 50 seconds for at shot at what should have been the game-winning field goal.

Frisco hasn't a prayer this coming week -- they have a Mickey Mouse defense.

If was on this drive that the Giants coaching staff cut the balls off the D by going into the dreaded prevent-defense which gave the Niners enough life to believe they could actually come back...

Same thing happened to the Browns -- the 'prevent' is the kiss of death.

Ah but the gayest city, NYC, carrying on like a drama queen. Face it, you've been bitch slapped.

Now, if only the Jets can return to the Rotten Apple in defeat as well. Hey, there's always next year.

First of all, I wasn’t on the field. Neither were you, so you can stop patting yourself on the back.

Second of all, you are the only person in America who believes that NYC is gayer than San Francisco. Did you hear that in a bathhouse?

Third of all, the Giants play in New Jersey.
