The New York State Assembly has already passed this bill.
The New York State Senate will pass it in December and it will be signed into law by Gov. Pataki

I see there are two options for Pro-Family Christian Conservatives. Either leave the Republican party or stand firm and take it back from the Log Cabin society.
Which way America?

But the hard core gay rights activists have won.

It will always be a weak, shaky, unsteady victory--and the gay lobby knows it. They will never know more than partial, grudging acceptance from most Americans. And there will be resolute and even fierce resistence from others.

Baloney, nothings been decided or written in stone. It wasn't that many years ago that some of the Eeyore conservative pundits were writing about how the abortion battle had been lost. Yet the tide of public opinion is shifting in our favor. With enough conservative judicial appointments we may soon be in a position to tighten up restrictions on abortion, which paves the way to one day outlawing it.

Yet we desperately need those appointments, and aren't going to get them if social conservatives once again stay home and pout. So all the more ironic and sad that right before the election Cal comes out with a column that could depress GOP turnout.

Cal Thomas, you should be ashamed of yourself. Don't be a quitter.

The problem is that mainstream Christians - especially evangelicals - are content to stick their heads in the sand and wait calmly for the 'day of judgement'.

Christianity is an active religion - yet somehow this gets lost when speaking to conservative Christians about the importance of voting and paying attention to the world around them. As Cal says, their minds have already been taken over - they just don't know it.

Mot of the "gay vote" died over the last 20 years. Didn't anyone notice that?

It's due to their absence that folks feel motivated to pass these special legislative packages for them - something that doesn't really affect anyone really doesn't count.

If politicians will not debate an issue--will not stand up for values--the remedy is not to abandon one's principles, but to find representatives who will stand up for those values. America does not exist to provide employment for politicians, agitators or whatever. Nothing is settled by the antics of office seekers at any moment in time.

If it comes down to a choice between the fundamental institutions of a social order and Governor Pataki, isn't one's course obvious? If New York Republicans do not have a horse in the race, isn't it better not to cast a vote than a vote for a spineless Yahoo?

No, as an Ohioan, it is not my call what people do in New York. But I know what I would do under these conditions.

Cal Thomas is wrong about one thing -- the Republican Party was never the "family values party."

Homosexuality was a perversion 4,000 years ago. It is a perversion today. It will be a perversion 4,000 years hence.

Our whole strategy has been wrong. We will never win by being just "anti-whatever" in our rhetoric, especially if what we are "anti" is perceived (accurately or not due to media distortions) as mainly being about constraining the freedom of adult citizens.

On the other hand, just look at the media any time some kid is abducted. Just look at the media any time some kid falls into a well and gets stuck. Just look at the fuss people make over kids, how much money they spend on them, etc., etc.

Most people care about kids. Especially their own kids, but there is still kind of a generalized caring for kids among most of the population, even among the childless and empty-nesters. This is rooted deep in the human psyche, probably is even instinctual. Neither the media nor the education system can really erase it.

So here's the thing: we really need to couch everything in terms of being "for the children." I know, that's Hillary's phrase. We never should have let her steal it, she has absolutely no right to it. We need to reclaim it as our own.

We are not going to be able to make much progress against "gay rights" in general. But when we focus on protecting children from pedophiles, most people do sit up and take notice, and the vast majority still responds positively to positive action to protect children from such abuse.

Similarly, as long and the abortion debate is defined about who can or cannot control women's bodies, we will never make much progress. When we started talking about protecting children, especially children that were already as good as born, then we started getting a much more sympathetic ear.

The Democrats say that they they are about protecting the children, but that is a load of crap. Everything they have ever done has caused children nothing but harm. They ALWAYS do more harm than good, no matter how well-intentioned and nice-sounding their rhetoric may be. If we are going to win, we had better put together a program that both sounds better and actually does work better where the protection of children are concerned.

Don't feel bad, Cal. That doesn't mean you can't keep hating them.

He's right, just look at the acceptance here at FR of the synonym for "merriment" as the name for pederasty.

Well ... I usually agree with Cal, but this gay stuff is NOT OVER BY A LONG SHOT!!

In California, we are just now gearing up to get this garbage out of our schools. If we get the Supt. of Schools I'm voting for, maybe we will finallysee some change.

Homeschoolers, as well as charter schools have sprouted up everywhere because of this garbage in the classroom.

The schools is why they want this "acceptable" attitude toward their perverted lifestyle. If you give them an inch, they will take a mile.

You better hope it's NOT over because the last phase of a society just before it totally collapses is that it accepts homosexuality as an alternative, normal lifestyle. It means that God Almighty has thrown in the towel to try and save that nation or society, and will let Satan have free reign until God decides it's "Judgement Day" for that Nation or society.

Then will be heard from Heaven: "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the Great! She has become a home for demons and a haunt for every evil spirit, a haunt for every unclean and detestable bird.
For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries.
The kings of the Earth committed adultery with her, and the merchants of the Earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries.
Therefore in one day her plagues will overtake her:
death, mourning and famine.
She will be consumed by fire, for mighty is the Lord God who judges her.
And the nations of the Earth will stand far off and cry:
Woe, Woe, O great Babylon; Nation of Power!
Woe, Woe O great Nation where all who had ships on the sea became rich through her wealth!
In one hour she has been brought to ruin!
With such violence that Great Nation will be brought down, never to be raised again.

"Catholic" politicians like Pataki went whole-hog for abortion years ago, while the cowardly and/or wicked and/or homosexual Catholic bishops put in place by Paul VI and John Paul II have winked. Abortion is a graver evil than consensual sodomy, so why should any unscrupulous politician balk at the gay agenda?
