Baloney, nothings been decided or written in stone. It wasn't that many years ago that some of the Eeyore conservative pundits were writing about how the abortion battle had been lost. Yet the tide of public opinion is shifting in our favor. With enough conservative judicial appointments we may soon be in a position to tighten up restrictions on abortion, which paves the way to one day outlawing it.
Yet we desperately need those appointments, and aren't going to get them if social conservatives once again stay home and pout. So all the more ironic and sad that right before the election Cal comes out with a column that could depress GOP turnout.
Cal Thomas, you should be ashamed of yourself. Don't be a quitter.
he was a defeatist a few years back too, talking about how christians like Christian Coalition should just leave the political arena. guess what, they did and Democrats made gains thanks to that.
It is time to reverse that. The fight is not over. Many people who are not gay and dont want the undermining of the family see this particular issue as a civil rights issue. If they are wrong, you have to prove them wrong, on the field of ideas. You cant curl up in a ball, you have to explain why you are right and they are wrong.
Yet we desperately need those appointments, and aren't going to get them if social conservatives once again stay home and pout. So all the more ironic and sad that right before the election Cal comes out with a column that could depress GOP turnout.
I agree. Let's not be a quitter. Heck, if you are in New York, send a sharp note to Patacki and let him know how you feel. Patacki just is oding this because the 'northeast GOP' strategy is to stick to the moderate social positions to avoid getting 'tagged' as 'extremists' by the liberals and the press.
