Man's Law or God's Law -- Which Should Take Priority?

Man's Law or God's Law -- Which Should Take Priority?

The Boy Scouts are under fire again for taking a Bible-based stand against homosexuality. This time, it's a group of California judges.

Pro-homosexual forces have been applying pressure to many organizations over the last few years to punish the Scouts for not allowing leaders who are homosexuals. In some cases, communities have voted to no longer fund the Scouts or allow them to meet on city-controlled property.

Now comes word that San Francisco Superior Court judges adopted a policy in early July that prohibits them from even associating with the Boy Scouts because of the organization's stand against homosexuals.

A report from the Culture and Family Institute says the lesbian lawyer who led the campaign against the Scouts is now pushing for a statewide resolution that would apply to all California judges. Attorney Angela Bradstreet said the rationale behind the policy is that it will allow judges to avoid "even the appearance of partiality at all times so that every litigant who appears in front of [them] is treated fairly and equally."

Jan LaRue, chief counsel for the conservative group Concerned Women for America, calls that an "outrageous stance."

"The fact that the California Supremes exempted nonprofit organizations from the nondiscrimination policy for judges, which [the Superior Court judges] have rejected, tells you the real agenda here," LaRue says.

LaRue wonders given the public stand these judges have taken, how can any Scout of person who supports the Scouts ever be sure they will get a fair trial when the appear before these judges.

Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name?

Then Peter and the [other] apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Man's Law or God's Law -- Which Should Take Priority?

Is it possible to reach a consensus on what is God's Law? I suppose it is possible among followers of a particular religion. But since we are talking about 'laws' it seems all believers (and non-believers?) have to be in agreement. How would you accomplish this?

That's the problem I have with the title of this post. What is god's law? Is it the Taliban's interpretation of god's law? An othrodox jew? Those that talk about "god's law" just mean "My interpretation of God's law"

I shudder to think who the judges are "associating with". Ten-to-one it involves a frilly frock [your spelling may legitimately vary] and anonymous "friendship".

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Seems that this policy infringes on the constitutional right to freedom of assembly.

This life is very short and where your soul ends up after death is forever.

Therefore only fool would obey man's laws over God's laws.

Good question. Well, since men make man's law I don't think it's possible to reach a consensus here. Political process determines the law.
As far as God's Law is concerned, the believers claim that it's absolute, it exists independently from men, it's revealed, not made. That's why I asked whether it's possible for all to agree on what it is. Regards.

So have they passed a law that says Christians cannot be judges yet?

Man's law. We are here on this planet, and we deal with men. Just the fact that there are so many different beliefs in God should make that obvious. Who really even knows what God's law is, your bible, his bible, his koran, his torah???

Well, we'll leave the theology for another day. Just wanted to make a brief point that secularists rarely turn their "skepticism" on themselves.

Something in the Bible about a speck and a mote in one's eye...anyway.

Cheers...HV

LOL! Troublemaker....

If lev was really serious about his question, then he'd have to take an ambivalent stance on the legality of murder, wouldn't he?

What if person A is a Muslim, person B, a Jew, and person C a Christian? Should they believe the law of God as you see it, or as they see it?

My thought as well.......

"People" decide what they want to be "man's law..."

"God" has decided what is his law, and those who ignore and disrespect ONE RELIGION (the homosexuals who abhore Christianity) cannot then claim that "THEY" are the only ones who can tell the Scouts (a member of a private group assembling in THEIR OWN different place to follow their own (LEGAL!) rules) how to live the Scouts' lives.

But the (liberal) homosexuals ARE the ones now telling EVERYBODY what to think and what to say and how to behave.

Who decided the homosexuals are "right" ... and what do "they" base their hatred of me on?
